The Valle Nevado Ski Resort announced a new extension of its 2026 ski season, extending operations until December 1st. Initially scheduled to end on October 18th, the Chilean resort had already postponed its operation until November 8th, reaching 143 days of activity, a previous record.
With this latest extension, the complex will reach 154 days of operation, marking the longest period in its 38 years of existence. This possibility of extension was made possible by the accumulation of over 7.4 meters of snow throughout the winter.
Located in the Andes Mountains, approximately 60 kilometers from Santiago, the complex is at an altitude of 3,025 meters, a location that ensures high-quality snow and sunny days, ideal for sports such as skiing and snowboarding.
This season, Valle Nevado observed a large number of international tourists, with Brazilians being prominent, constituting 60% of guests in the resort's four hotels. Among those who visited for just one day, 70% were Chilean citizens and 30% were foreigners, two-thirds of whom were from Brazil.
Starting November 8th, Valle Nevado will cease operating every day, opening slopes only on pre-selected dates, with fixed hours between 8:30 AM and 2:00 PM. The opening schedule includes the following periods: November 13, 14, and 15 (Friday to Sunday); November 20, 21, and 22 (Friday to Sunday); November 27, 28, and 29 (Friday to Sunday); and finally, November 30 and December 1 (Monday and Tuesday).
On these operating days, five lifts will be accessible: Gondola, Andes Express, Prado, Candonga, and Vaivén. Additionally, the resort will continue to offer equipment rental, ski school, shops, and dining options, but only on dates when the slopes are open.
It is important to note that the hotels belonging to the complex closed their activities at the beginning of October and will not participate in the extension. For those wishing to enjoy the final days of the season, it is suggested to stay in Santiago and take a day trip to the mountain. One suggestion mentioned is the Wyndham Santiago Pettra, located in the Lo Barnechea neighborhood, about 1 hour and 30 minutes by car from Valle Nevado.
Due to the dependence of slope openings on weather and safety conditions, the resort advises visitors to consult the Valle Nevado mountain bulletin before any visit. This bulletin provides information on available areas and lifts, as well as the condition of the access road.
Season passes for 2026 and 2027 can be used during this extension period, as can previously purchased Flex tickets. There is also the option to purchase specific tickets for certain dates, which can be obtained on the official website.
