Work has begun to restore a lake in the National Park of Uzbekistan, located near the building of the Oliy Majlis Legislative Chamber, which had been drained approximately six years ago. These activities are part of an extensive program to create artificial water bodies in eight mahallas of Tashkent.
Previously, this area was planned for the construction of a restaurant and subsequently a National Drama Theater; however, both projects were suspended. Now, the plan is to return the body of water to restore the original appearance of this part of the National Park.
According to information provided by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, similar work is also being carried out in other parts of the capital. Specifically, artificial water bodies are being created in the mahallas of 'Beshegoch' in Chilanzar district, 'Honobodtepa' and 'Kumaryk' in Sergeli district, 'Bogiboston' in Yunusabad district, 'Yuksalish' in Mirabad district, 'Ipakchilik' in Shayxantakur district, 'Kurgontepa' in Uchtep district, and 'Zamondosh' in Almazar district.
These projects are being implemented as part of the nationwide initiative 'Clean Air'. The increase in the number of green zones and water bodies is intended to help reduce dustiness, raise air humidity levels, and mitigate the effects of summer heat in the city. By decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the creation of a total of twelve artificial lakes and water bodies is planned for Tashkent.
There was also previous information about the start of work to form a new park area with an artificial lake on Keles Yuli street in the Almazar district of Tashkent.
