The project named Artesanato em Movimento (Handicraft in Motion), promoted by the Association of Artisans and Artists of Cabo Frio (ACF), will take place this Saturday, the 7th, from 3 PM to 11 PM, at Praça do Guta, located in Praia do Forte, in Cabo Frio (RJ). Under the theme Between Lace and Dances, the free event will bring together various activities, including a meeting of bobbin lace makers, theater sessions, workshops, and a fair with local artisans. Additionally, there will be children's entertainment and performances by Forró de Aroeira.
The schedule begins at 3 PM with the Great Meeting of Bobbin Lace Makers. This meeting will feature a conversation circle between the Capixaba collective Barra de Renda, coming from Barra do Jucu, and lace makers from Cabo Frio, specifically from the districts of Tamoios and Arraial do Cabo. The objective of this meeting is to value traditional knowledge and foster the exchange of knowledge among all participants.
At 4 PM, the collective En La Barca Jornadas Teatrais will present the play titled ÍTACA: Memories of Thread and Sea. This work addresses the relationship between grandmother and granddaughter, using bobbin lace as a central element to explore themes of affection and the transmission of knowledge between generations.
Later, at 5 PM, the Forró de Aroeira project will bring Trio Estopim and DJ Adriano Abreu to the stage to liven up the musical part of the event.
Artesanato em Movimento will have a second edition on Sunday, November 22nd, but in another location: Praia das Palmeiras, also in Cabo Frio. On this occasion, the theme will be Playing with Art, and the event will take place from 2 PM to 8 PM, focusing on activities for children.
The program for this second day will include handicraft workshops for both children and adults, as well as musicalization, face painting, and live music, aiming to encourage appreciation for regional culture and manual crafts. Entry to this event will also be free.
Founded in 2022, the Association of Artisans and Artists of Cabo Frio (ACF) is dedicated to valuing the handicrafts of the Baixada Litorânea region. Its initiatives cover professional training, the conservation of ancient techniques, and income generation. Among the activities carried out by ACF are fairs, exhibitions, free workshops, and cultural events, also featuring the participation of artisans in state and national meetings.
One of the entity's important projects is the Rescue of Bobbin Lace, which provides free classes to ensure the preservation and passing on of the artisanal technique to new generations. The association also organizes Artesanato em Movimento, which serves as a cultural meeting point and sales opportunity for professionals in the field.
ACF is recognized as a Municipal Public Utility Association and maintains collaboration with the Federation of Artisans of the State of Rio de Janeiro, also participating in actions related to the Brazilian Handicrafts Program.
