Despite the absence of Bumrah and Shami, Indian pace attack raises concerns for New Zealand in second ODI

The Indian team currently lacks experienced fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, but this does not mean that the opposing team's batsmen will feel relieved. In the first ODI against New Zealand, India's young and relatively inexperienced pace attack displayed such a performance that the hosts had to reconsider their tactics. Now it is expected that the Indian fast bowlers will replicate this performance in the second ODI, which will take place on Saturday in Wellington. The match will start at 7:30 AM Indian time.

In the first match of the series, played in Auckland, Arshdeep Singh, Anshul Kamboj, and Gurnor Barar made a significant impact with their play. These bowlers prevented the New Zealand batsmen from playing freely. Notably, all three complicated matters for the hosts in different ways. While Arshdeep managed to take wickets, Kamboj held the batsmen through his accurate line and length of bowling.

In the first ODI, Anshul Kamboj emerged as one of India's most influential players. He created pressure on the New Zealand batsmen by conceding 46 dot balls. While other bowlers used short deliveries to gain extra bounce from the field, Kamboj continued to bowl at a length characteristic of Test matches. This strategy proved effective.

There is also a possibility that Kamboj might be given new ball duties alongside Arshdeep Singh in the second ODI. Although Arshdeep and Akib Nabi started the bowling in Auckland, the style of movement demonstrated by Kamboj makes him a strong contender for this role.

Nevertheless, on the pitch in Wellington, the Indian bowlers will face a different challenge. In Eden Park in Auckland, the boundaries were short, whereas at Henry Stadium in Wellington, the short boundaries are square. Under these conditions, the fast bowlers will have to change their bowling length. Instead of trapping the batsmen with short balls, bowling at a slightly longer length may be more effective.

It is expected that this ground will offer good bounce and the ability for the ball to maintain its trajectory. This could help the fast bowlers. This is good news for the Indian pace attack. The New Zealand batsmen, who suffered from extra bounce in the first ODI, may face difficulties again.

The Indian team also has an experienced option in Mohammed Siraj. In the first ODI, Akib Nabi was unable to take a wicket. If Siraj is available for the second match, there may be changes in the squad. However, the team management has not yet revealed its cards on this matter.

When asked about Siraj's potential chance by field coach Shubdeep Ghosh, he replied: 'I do not know, the team management will make the decision.' Siraj's possible presence could add experience to the Indian bowling, but the performance of the young bowlers in the first ODI presented the team management with an interesting choice.

As for the Indian batting, Rohit Sharma is set to play a big innings in the second ODI. In the first match of the series, he was dismissed in the very first over. Nevertheless, his form prior to this was good in the home series against West Indies. The team hopes that Rohit will regain his form in Wellington.

How Virat Kohli played in the first ODI could also have provided some relief to the Indian side. Despite the extra bounce at Eden Park, Kohli looked confident and scored runs easily. His role was important in stabilizing the Indian innings.

However, other batsmen struggled to cope with the short balls. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel faced difficulties due to the constant bouncers from the New Zealand bowlers. They need to improve their technique against bouncing balls. The New Zealand bowlers may target this weakness again in the second ODI.

On the other hand, New Zealand's problems are not diminishing. The team's key batsman, Devon Conway, is ruled out of the entire series due to a concussion. He sustained this injury after a collision during fielding practice. Nick Kelly has been included in the team to replace him. New Zealand fast bowler Blair Tickner called the absence of Conway a major blow to the team. He stated that Conway was an extremely important player for the team.

First ODI between India and New Zealand to take place on November 4th in Auckland

Following the T20 series, the teams of India and New Zealand are ready for a 50-over format confrontation, i.e., an ODI series. The first match of this five-match tournament is scheduled for November 4th and will be held at Eden Park stadium in Auckland.

The New Zealand team aims to make a strong comeback after losing the T20 series. However, the presence of stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Indian team gives them an advantage before this match. It is expected that there will be a tense clash between some players in the game.

On the challenging pitches of Auckland, when pacer Rohit Sharma faces fast bowling from the New Zealand team's Matt Henry, the spectacle promises to be exciting. Rohit will likely try to start the game in his usual style, but Henry's pace and spin could pose a serious problem for him. According to statistics, Henry has already been dismissed twice by Rohit in ODIs, with Rohit's average standing at 29.5.

Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, who returned to the ODI squad after a back injury, is ready to create havoc on the hard pitch of Auckland. The old battle between King Kohli and Jamieson will once again take place on the field. Jamieson has already dismissed Kohli in ODI format, making their confrontation very interesting for spectators.

Mohammed Siraj, leading the Indian fast bowling attack, will test the New Zealand batsmen with his pace and spin. Facing Siraj will be dangerous batsman Daryl Mitchell, who scored four ODI centuries against India. The clash between Siraj and Mitchell also promises to be very competitive, as Siraj has already dismissed Mitchell.

New Zealand captain and left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner intends to use his spin technique to take wickets in the middle overs on pitches favorable to pace. However, he will have to face Shreyas Iyer, who is among the best spinners. Although Santner has dismissed Iyer once, Iyer's average against spin in this match remains very high.

Devon Conway ruled out of New Zealand squad ahead of first ODI against India due to injury

New Zealand has suffered a significant blow ahead of the ODI series against India. Wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Conway will be unable to participate in the first match due to an injury. Tim Seifert will replace him.

Devon Conway was excluded from the first ODI, scheduled for November 4th in Auckland, after colliding with teammate Matt Henry during a training session on Tuesday at Edgbaston. Following the collision, Conway was taken to the hospital where a concussion was confirmed.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) issued an official statement confirming Conway's absence from the first ODI. Team captain Michelle Santner stated that Henry was also involved in the incident but is fine.

The accident occurred while Conway and Matt Henry were attempting to catch a ball in the air during practice. As a result of the catching attempt, both players collided with each other. Medical staff on the field immediately checked both athletes, after which head examinations were conducted.

At a press conference, Santner stated that Matt Henry passed the concussion test and appears normal, while Devon was taken to the hospital for further examination. He noted that the collision looked unfavorable.

Following Conway's exclusion, Tim Seifert will take his place in the New Zealand team. Santner hinted that Seifert might be included in the starting lineup directly. He explained that Seifert is the team's reserve batsman, so a direct replacement will occur if Devon is unavailable. Santner added that this is an unfortunate situation, emphasizing that Seifert is a good ODI player and had previously been waiting for his chance in the T20 series.

NZC reported that the medical team will closely monitor both players, and information regarding their availability in the remaining matches of the series will be provided later. It should be noted that India previously won the five-match T20 series against New Zealand by a score of 3-2, although New Zealand managed to bounce back by winning the last two matches. Now both teams will meet in the ODI series, the first match of which is scheduled for November 4th in Auckland.

Ishan Kishan ruled out of India squad due to injury, missing third T20 match

Due to a muscle injury sustained during a game, vice-captain and batsman Ishan Kishan has been dropped from the Indian squad for not only the second but also the third T20 match against New Zealand.

The third match of this five-match series between India and New Zealand is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, at Sky Stadium in Wellington. Fans were expecting Kishan's return as he was in excellent form.

The injury, which is a low-grade adductor strain in his right lower leg, was sustained by Ishan Kishan on October 22 during the first match of the series in Christchurch. The 28-year-old was advised to take a break to prevent further damage. Kumar Kushagra has been included in his place in the team.

Meanwhile, the players are ready for the second match of the series at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. India captain Shreyas Iyer decided to start the game with a coin toss and opt for bowling first. The Indian team aims to maintain its winning streak, having achieved an impressive target of 226 runs in the first T20 match.

In the first match, Sandeep Samson delivered an impressive performance, scoring 67 runs off just 33 balls, while captain Shreyas Iyer added 42 runs. Following this, young Naman Dheer secured a brilliant victory for the team, scoring 42 runs off only 15 balls without getting out.

Despite Kishan's absence, the Indian team, which currently leads the series 1-0, is fully prepared to continue its winning run. At the same time, the host side, New Zealand, will make every effort to return to the game.
