Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) may have reached a significant financial milestone before being available in stores. According to reports published by Exame, advance digital sales of the new Rockstar Games title generated approximately US$ 751 million, which is equivalent to over R$ 4 billion.
If these figures are confirmed, they would signal very high demand for the game prior to its release. However, it is important to note that these values are only estimates, as neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive has issued an official confirmation regarding this initial revenue.
The data mentioned by the publication indicates that the PlayStation 5 accounted for 74% of the reserved digital copies of GTA 6. This proportion represents almost three-quarters of the analyzed reservations, suggesting a considerable lead for Sony's console over other platforms.
However, due to the lack of details on the methodology used, it is not possible to know exactly how many units were sold or if the amounts correspond to revenue actually received by the companies.
Commercial interest surrounding GTA 6 is strongly influenced by the franchise's legacy. The previous game, GTA 5, established itself as one of the best-selling titles in history and managed to maintain an engaged player community for over ten years.
Furthermore, the new release attracts attention by bringing the series back to Vice City, presented now in a modern version of the fictional city inspired by Miami. Despite the billion-dollar projection, official data will be needed to assess the real commercial performance of the launch and verify whether GTA 6 can set new records in the gaming industry.
