On November 5, Tencent announced a tenfold increase in the computing cluster serving its large language model, Hy4. This decision followed a sharp rise in the usage of WorkBuddy, the company's office agent, where many users reached daily availability limits on the model.
According to notifications from Tencent's Hy and WorkBuddy teams, the company has also increased free usage quotas and will continue to reallocate resources as demand changes. The teams warned that during peak load hours, limitations may persist due to high-performance computing constraints and a high concentration of requests. They advised users to switch to other models, such as Hy3, whose free access in WorkBuddy is extended until 23:59 on November 15, or to postpone non-urgent tasks until the evening.
New Rankings Positions
Tencent also presented data from the Intelligence Index published by Artificial Analysis on November 5, which ranks 724 models. The Hy4 model ranked second among Chinese models, trailing Kimi K3.1 Pro but surpassing Qwen3.8 Max and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. This index combines scores covering complex reasoning, coding, tool use, multimodal understanding, long-term planning, and scientific problem-solving. Hy4's score of 35 matches Grok 4.7 (xhigh).
In terms of cost, Artificial Analysis estimates Hy4 at approximately $0.78 per task, which, according to Tencent, is about one-tenth the cost of Grok 4.7 (xhigh) and one-thirteenth the cost of Qwen3.8 Max, models of similar performance level.
On the Agent Arena leaderboard, which focuses on real-world agent tasks, Hy4 holds 13th place overall, which Tencent claims makes it the best open-source model on this list. This list is currently preliminary. Furthermore, Hy4 is on the Pareto frontier of the score-to-cost leaderboard, maintaining a positive score at a significantly lower cost per task compared to more expensive models like Claude Opus 5.5.
The Hy4 model was released on November 4. Compared to the preliminary version of Hy4, the model features expanded pre- and post-training data, introduced visual understanding for the first time, and improved instruction following, long-context understanding, and long-term agent performance.
