At that time, about 25 viewers were watching in Hall 10. After the screening was stopped, all viewers were refunded for their tickets. Viewers were led out of the hall after seeing smoke coming from the projector to avoid any incidents, and the screening was cut short.

According to available information, the screening of the film had to be suspended due to smoke appearing in three halls of the US Cinema. Among these halls was Hall 10, where about 25 people came to watch the 7:30 PM screening. After the screening was stopped, all viewers were given their money back for the tickets.

Film 'Ramayana' showed first-day box office collection, trailing 'Dhurandhar 2' and 'Adipurush'

The massive and grand Indian film 'Ramayana' was released in theaters on Thursday, November 5th, shortly before the Diwali holidays, worldwide. This first episode, with a budget of 1600 crore rupees, is currently the most expensive Indian film. The film demonstrated a strong start thanks to advance ticket sales and positive reviews.

Advance sales for 'Ramayana' began 15 days before the premiere, during the Dasara festival. After resolving a dispute between cinemas and distributors, pre-sales gained momentum. By the time the film was released, 200 crore rupees worth of tickets had been sold globally, indicating an expected large opening day.

In several regions of India, screenings on Thursday morning were fully booked. Although advance sales did not reach the level of 'Dhurandhar 2' earlier this year, the film still started confidently. According to Saklink, on the release day, 'Ramayana' earned 64.85 crore rupees (net) in India, largely driven by the good performance of its Hindi version.

Despite Yash's participation as Ravana, the Kannada version started slowly, earning only 7.25 crore rupees. Meanwhile, the Hindi version earned 47.50 crore rupees, while the Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam versions brought in 6.00 crore, 2.60 crore, and 1.50 crore, respectively. Thus, the total gross collection in India amounted to 77.50 crore rupees, with a net collection of 64.85 crore rupees. Official global figures have not yet been provided by the creators.

With this revenue, 'Ramayana' surpassed the total collection of 'Dhurandhar' on the first day by noon. Ranveer Singh's film was released last year with box office collections of 28 crore rupees. By the end of the day, 'Ramayana' also overtook the first-day box office figures of blockbusters such as 'Patan' (57 crore rupees), 'Animal' (63 crore rupees), and 'Drishyam 2' (62 crore rupees).

However, the film could not surpass 'Jaan' Shah Rukh Khan (75 crore rupees) or 'Dhurandhar 2' Ranveer Singh, which collected 102 crore rupees on its opening day earlier this year. Perhaps the biggest disappointment for fans was that the film failed to beat the debut of 'Adipurush'. This film, based on 'Ramayana' and subject to criticism, collected 86.75 crore rupees in 2023.

The film 'Ramayana', created with the participation of Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, is planned to be released in two parts. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana, Ravi Dubey plays Lakshmana, and Sani Deol plays Lord Hanuman. The first part was released worldwide on November 5, 2026, and the second part is scheduled for Diwali 2028.

Film 'Ramayana' shows record sales start; prospects for international release in China discussed

Three days before its theatrical release, the film 'Ramayana: Part 1' is showing impressive growth in advance bookings. The financial performance of this movie could enter the list of the most successful premieres in Indian cinema. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, has collected about 75 million rupees just from advance bookings worldwide.

According to Sakalik, in India, advance sales have led to a total revenue of approximately 45.35 crore rupees, including booked seats. About 1.085 million tickets were sold, and 35,294 screenings are planned in the country. Excluding reserved seats, the advance booking amount is 36.39 crore rupees.

The film has also received a positive response in the international market. Advance sales abroad earned the picture about 3.5 million dollars, equivalent to approximately 31.3 crore rupees. North America contributed the most to this sum, where advance sales for paid screenings exceeded $1 million.

In India, the highest number of advance bookings comes from the Hindi version, but the markets of Karnataka and Telugu also contribute significantly. By city, good sales are observed in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Audiences are also actively responding in Hyderabad. The reaction in Bangalore is particularly important because Yash plays Ravana, which may attract the fan base of two major stars: Ranbir Kapoor in the Hindi market and Yash in Karnataka.

How the film earns across different language versions will determine whether it becomes a true pan-Indian hit. Although a strong start in the Hindi segment is important, the reaction in other languages will also play a key role in its success. Furthermore, the film is released in IMAX and other large screen formats, where ticket prices are higher, which could increase the overall revenue from advance bookings.

Currently, the highest demand for tickets is in the first few days of screening. It will be interesting to see if demand increases on weekends or if audience enthusiasm is limited to the initial shows.

Trade analyst Akshay Rathi predicts that only the Hindi version can collect between 50 to 65 crore rupees. He expects the versions in other languages to bring in about 45–50 crore rupees, with Karnataka potentially contributing 35 to 40 crore rupees. According to Akshay Rathi, 'Ramayana' has the potential to attract a multilingual audience because its story is familiar to almost everyone in the country. Moreover, the cast can ensure popularity in various states. The fact that Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama and Yash plays Ravana is a big plus, as both actors have their own fan bases ready to visit theaters.

He also predicted good revenues in the international market. According to him, if the film is released on a large scale abroad and receives a positive response, its foreign earnings could match or even exceed those in India. This means the film will not be limited only to the Indian audience but can attract viewers from other countries.

The Chinese market is also considered very important for the international release of 'Ramayana'. Sony Pictures, which handles the film's overseas distribution, has prepared a special title for China: 'Ramayana: The Legend of the Prince'. The success of Nitesh Tiwari's previous film in China, 'Dangal', may help create recognition for this film among the Chinese public.

However, official information regarding the release date and the number of cinemas in China is currently unavailable. Reports suggest the film might be released in China about two weeks after its premiere in India. Akshay Rathi gives an example: if the film is shown in 20–25 thousand cinemas in China, and also gets a wide release in North America, Europe, and Australia, its revenue will increase significantly. The success of Amir Khan's film 'Dangal' in China serves as a prime example. If 'Ramayana' is also widely presented and receives a good response, it could take its international earnings to a new level.

Sony Pictures plays a major role in the film's international distribution.

Film 'Ramayana' shows high pre-sale figures in India despite high ticket prices

The film 'Ramayana', starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, is generating immense interest among viewers. Following the start of advance ticket sales for the Dasara festival, the pace of interest in the movie has gradually increased. Ten days before the official release, screenings became fully booked in many locations.

After Dasara, on October 20th, viewers were able to purchase tickets for 'Ramayana'. As soon as advance sales opened, many bought the desired tickets. However, disputes arose regarding prices during this period, as tickets cost 500–600 rupees in some places. Despite this, 'Ramayana' is showing impressive results.

How strong is 'Ramayana' in five days?

According to a report by Sakalilk, in five days, the film collected approximately 8.72 crore rupees solely from advance sales in India. About 200 thousand tickets have been sold. Initially, the Hindi version dominated the advance sales. Nevertheless, in the last two days, there has been an acceleration in sales for both the Kannada and Telugu versions. The share of the Hindi version in the total advance sales still accounts for about 87 percent.

The Kannada version started on about 100 screens and may soon approach the mark of 1 crore rupees. In some theaters, morning show attendance reached 72 percent. As for the Telugu version, it is currently running on only 10–15 screens, and its sales have barely exceeded 1 lakh rupees. It is expected that sales of other regional versions of 'Ramayana' will begin as the release date approaches.

According to the report, four fully booked shows have already taken place, two of which were Telugu and two were Hindi. However, considering the fullness of seats in theaters, the number of such shows could exceed a dozen.

Highest Demand in IMAX

Premium formats contribute the most significantly to the film's advance sales, especially IMAX and 4DX, where viewers show great interest. Although the share of IMAX in the total number of 'Ramayana' screenings in India is only about 3.8 percent, its contribution to advance revenue reached approximately 25 percent.

About 1.5 lakh tickets have been sold in regular shows, belonging to more than 4100 screenings, which averages about 35 tickets per screening. In comparison, over 23 thousand tickets have been sold in IMAX across about 140 screenings, with an average of about 170 tickets sold per screening. Thus, the sales speed in IMAX is approximately five times higher than in regular screenings.

It is particularly noteworthy that the average ticket price in IMAX is about 1095 rupees, whereas the average ticket price in regular shows is about 380 rupees. Despite this, demand for IMAX screenings remains very high. Furthermore, over 12 thousand tickets have been sold in various languages in premium formats such as 4DX, ICE, and Dolby Cinema.

Will 'Ramayana' break the record of 'Baahubali'? The film is scheduled for release on November 5th, and there is still time until then. As the release date approaches, even greater growth in ticket sales is expected. The question arises: will this become the biggest film in India in terms of advance sales? Currently, this record belongs to Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2', which sold only 6.5 lakh tickets in the Hindi language.

Regarding the film 'Ramayana' itself, it was directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and its producer is Namit Malhotra from DNEG.
