Portugal and Ukraine discuss joint construction of drone manufacturing plant

The President of the Portuguese Republic announced that he discussed with his Ukrainian counterpart the possibility of creating a joint venture in Portugal for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles. 'One of the issues on the table was the possibility of jointly building a factory in Portugal for drone production,' stated António José Seguro at a press conference in Madrid, where he held a bilateral meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He added that this issue was raised, and now competent authorities, particularly the Government, will develop this possibility. During the meeting in Madrid, António José Seguro and Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the potential for joint arms production. 'We discussed with the Portuguese President ways in which Portugal can support our energy system and help protect lives in Ukraine. We also talked about our possibilities for joint arms production. We sincerely hope for new steps in this direction,' wrote Zelenskyy on social media X.

The President of the Portuguese Republic had previously confirmed the meeting between Seguro and Zelenskyy in Madrid as part of the 30th Ibero-American Summit, which concluded in the Spanish capital. According to the Portuguese presidency, Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked for Portugal's continuous support to Ukraine since the start of the war and requested the continuation of this support at political, military, and financial levels.

Seguro assured his counterpart of Portugal's unwavering support and expressed hope that the upcoming peace negotiations would lead to an end to the war with Russia based on a just solution guaranteeing long-term peace consistent with international law and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

According to official Portuguese sources, besides the President of the Republic, the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel was also present at the meeting. According to statements from both countries, Zelenskyy expressed condolences to Seguro regarding the attack on a humanitarian facility in the Komyshuvakha region this week. 'Russia attacks our cities and communities with drones and missiles every day. Our energy sector has been severely affected, and it is very difficult to recover everything,' Zelenskyy wrote on X, commenting on the Komyshuvakha attack and the topics he discussed with António José Seguro.

The President of Ukraine arrived in Madrid on Thursday for meetings with leaders of the Ibero-American community present in the Spanish capital.

Air India resumes direct flights between Delhi, Mumbai, and New York after opening of Iraqi airspace

As a 'Diwali gift' for passengers, the airline Air India has relaunched direct flights between Delhi/Mumbai and New York (JFK and Newark EWR airports) starting Wednesday.

This change allows for a reduction in travel time by almost four hours compared to one-stop routes that were used since the start of the war between the US and Iran on February 28 of this year.

The airline's operational team, similar to the teams of other carriers, constantly analyzes the geopolitical situation in flight. As soon as the risk level for Iraq, Syria, and Jordan decreased, a slightly shorter route became available. This made direct flights possible again between Delhi and EWR, Delhi and JFK, Mumbai and EWR, and also Mumbai and JFK, bypassing a stopover in Fiumicino, Rome.

Travel times are now 15–16 hours, whereas with a layover in Rome, they reached almost 20 hours.

New Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models with diesel engines receive larger tanks and can travel nearly 1500 km without refueling

The new generation of Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups, which will arrive on the American market as the 2027 lineup, will be equipped with larger fuel tanks in diesel versions.

The reservoir for Arla 32, which reduces emissions from diesel engines, has been increased from 20.5 liters to 28 liters. It is standard equipment on all versions with the 3.0 Duramax six-cylinder inline turbocharged diesel engine.

This change corresponds to a new optional fuel tank with a capacity of 129 liters. It costs $445 USD (about 2200 Brazilian reais) in some cabin configurations and comes with the most expensive trims, such as ZR2, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.

In the previous generation, the diesel pickups had tanks with capacities of 83 or 91 liters. Thanks to the larger tank, the diesel versions can now cover about 1480 km on the highway without needing to refuel, based on GM's stated fuel consumption of 11.5 km/L for rear-wheel-drive configurations.

However, GM's pickups lag behind competitors in this aspect: the Ford F-150 offers a 136-liter tank, the Ram 1500 offers 125 liters, and the Toyota Tundra offers 122 liters.

In practice, this means that drivers transporting cargo over long distances will have to make fewer stops to refuel with diesel and Arla 32.

However, the new pickups have lost the hidden compartments in the rear seat back that were offered since 2019. American sites speculated that the reason for this change was the larger tanks. Nevertheless, GM product managers told GM Authority that the reason was low demand, as few owners used this space.

One explanation is accessibility: these compartments cannot be opened if there are passengers or child seats in the back seat. To compensate for this, the new generation features a redesigned center console with movable cup holders and almost 5 liters more storage space.

In Brazil, the current generation Silverado is sold only with a V8 gasoline engine.

Anthropic's Claude gains expense analysis feature by connecting bank accounts

Anthropic announced the introduction of the Personal Finance feature in its Claude assistant. This new functionality allows users to link their bank accounts and credit cards, enabling detailed expense tracking and obtaining financial clarifications in simple terms.

The integration operates through the Plaid platform and guarantees read-only access, preventing the system from making any type of transaction, administration, or investment with users' money.

With this tool, individuals can check how expenses are distributed monthly, with categorizations such as food, rent, and purchases. Furthermore, it is possible to ask questions to compare current spending with past periods and thus identify changes in the established budget.

Claude also analyzes transactions to alert about potential issues, such as recurring charges, unexpected fees, or accounts showing a progressive increase. The assistant has the ability to determine if the user's spending exceeds their income, as well as explain complex financial concepts, such as the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), and calculate the total amount paid in interest over the last twelve months.

In an official statement, Anthropic emphasized the goal of presenting financial data in an understandable way, stating that 'Claude provides answers in everyday language, based on your balances and transactions, and explains any term that is new to you.'

According to Anthropic, the connection to financial accounts is limited to a specific set of information. The company also assured that conversations held in the Personal Finance environment will not be used to train its artificial intelligence models. Additionally, the tool does not promote advertisements or sponsored offers, nor does it market its own products such as credit cards, loans, or savings accounts, reinforcing Anthropic's commitment to providing responses free from commercial interests.

This launch positions Claude in direct competition with ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, which had already launched similar functionalities in May. Anthropic's tool also supports connecting financial accounts for expense consultation and long-term planning.

The Personal Finance feature will be available in beta this week for subscribers of the Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the United States. This novelty integrates Claude's expansion strategy into specific niches; earlier this year, Anthropic had already launched Claude for Legal, focused on the legal field, and Claude for Financial Services, intended for the financial services sector.
