Over 20 Paris Metro Stations Closed Due to Mass Protests

In anticipation of mass demonstrations in Paris, the Paris Transport Authority (RATP) announced that over twenty metro stations were closed on Saturday morning.

According to information provided by RATP, the closures occurred at the request of the police prefecture and were due to security concerns. A list of 24 stations was published on the RATP website, with most of them located in central Paris. The agency also warned of possible train service interruptions on some lines.

Mass protests will take place again in France this Saturday, involving trade unions, schoolchildren, students, and 'yellow vests'. Protesters are expressing dissatisfaction with the rising cost of living and the deteriorating situation in education.

Earlier, several Parisian museums, including the Louvre, were announced as closed due to planned large-scale protests across France on Saturday.

The first protests in Paris began in mid-September when secondary school students took to the streets of the Parisian suburbs demanding school improvements. Later, people dissatisfied with nationwide price increases joined them, and the protests spread to other regions.

The largest national demonstration took place on October 17. According to the Ministry of the Interior, approximately 550,000 people participated. French law enforcement used tear gas, noise grenades, and water cannons against the demonstrators.
