Yamaha unveils Ténéré 400 concept and RW crossover line at Eicma exhibition

Yamaha utilized the Milan fair (EICMA), held in Italy in early November, to showcase the development direction of its European lineup in the coming years. Among the new offerings are a mid-sized trail bike, a family of crossovers with automatic transmission, and two electric scooters.

The presentation was conducted by Olivier Prevoost, President and CEO of Yamaha Motor Europe. Particular attention was drawn to the Ténéré 4 concept, which was presented at an event preceding the Fair. This study of a mid-sized adventure motorcycle equipped with a new single-cylinder engine that, according to the manufacturer, provides torque at low and mid-revs, as well as a new chassis designed for strength without increasing weight.

Yamaha has not disclosed the power, weight, or production timelines for this model; it is currently only a concept, although the brand positions it as a development project to expand the Ténéré family, whose roots trace back to the XT500, which won the first Paris-Dakar in 1979, and the XT600 Ténéré of 1982.

The new RW line includes the RW700, RW700 Explore, and RW350 models. Yamaha defines them as a hybrid between a motorcycle and a scooter and states that they open a new segment of crossovers with an automatic gearbox—a definition the company itself did not detail. The RW700 uses a two-cylinder CP2 engine, already known from other brand models, and features a steel tube frame. The Explore version retains the same base but is supplemented with touring elements: front preload suspension with adjustable damping, heated grips and seat, a center stand, illuminated controls, and exclusive colors.

The RW350 is equipped with a new 330cc engine, despite its model name. It is integrated with the Yamaha Dynamic Ride system, the functions of which the manufacturer did not explain. The brand's European pages list these three models as the 2027 lineup, with no pricing information available.

Among the electric models, the Xenter E represents a solution for urban mobility. It features 16-inch wheels, suspension adapted for uneven asphalt, a vertical riding position, and a flat floor, as well as under-seat storage for a full-face helmet, depending on size and shape. The model is equipped with a TFT display with navigation, ABS, traction control, keyless start, built-in charger, and reverse gear function for maneuvering. The claimed range is up to 108 km on the WMTC cycle—a laboratory standard that varies depending on usage. Yamaha did not disclose the battery capacity, power, or charging time. In Milan, the company also showed a combustion engine concept derived from it, simply named Xenter.

The NMax E is the electric version of the more famous sport scooter from the MAX line. It uses an eAxle powertrain with belt drive and, according to Yamaha, delivers performance equivalent to a 125cc gasoline model. The equipment specification repeats the brand's urban package: connected TFT display, riding modes, built-in charging port, illuminated under-seat storage, traction control, and ABS. As with the Xenter E, the manufacturer did not disclose the range, battery capacity, or charging time—data that determines the practical utility of the electric scooter in daily life.

There is no information in the official statement regarding the sale of these models in Brazil; all were presented for the European market. In Brazil, Yamaha's electrification is currently carried out through light hybrids Fluo ABS Hybrid Connected and ZR Hybrid Connected, as well as via Torqeedo's suspended electric motors.

Royal Enfield unveils 750cc engine and new Himalayan 750 and Continental GT 750 models

At the Eicma 2026 exhibition, Royal Enfield introduced a new project that is set to form the basis for the brand's next stage of development: a parallel twin-cylinder engine with a displacement of 743 cubic centimeters. This is the largest engine ever used by the Indian manufacturer, and it debuts simultaneously in two models—the Himalayan 750 touring motorcycle and the Continental GT 750 cafe racer. Previously, the maximum engine capacity in the lineup was 650 cubic centimeters.

This step forward comes in the year the manufacturer celebrates its 125th anniversary, aiming to reach a new level while maintaining the 'Moto-tourism' concept that supports the brand's positioning in the mid-power segment. Alongside the two new motorcycles, the company showcased the electric Flying Flea S6 model, the limited edition Shotgun 650 'Son of a Gun,' and the 1901 clothing collection, marking the launch of a new visual identity.

New Engine Specifications

The new parallel twin-cylinder engine develops 55 hp at 7000 rpm and a torque of 6.42 kgm·m at 5000 rpm. According to Royal Enfield, 90% of this torque is available from 3500 rpm. The design is equipped with a six-speed gearbox and an assisted slipper clutch. The manufacturer claims that the weight of the new engine is comparable to that of the 650cc unit used in other models, indicating a significant improvement in engineering solutions.

A notable feature is the air and oil cooling, which is less common in the mid-range touring motorcycle segment where liquid cooling is more frequent. The Himalayan 750 weighs 224 kg in operating condition, providing a moderate power-to-weight ratio for this category—consistent with the low-torque and off-road use concept, though this should be considered when riding on highways or with luggage.

Himalayan 750 Technical Features

The touring model received the most comprehensive set of electronic systems offered by the brand. It includes five riding modes (Road, Road Sport, Rain, Trail, and Custom), a four-level intervention traction control system, cornering ABS, and inclination-sensitive traction control. All these functions are managed by a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), allowing the system to regulate braking and traction not only vertically but also depending on the motorcycle's angle of inclination.

Additionally, the configuration includes cruise control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a four-inch TFT display with Bluetooth support, map navigation, and phone and music control. The lighting is fully LED, with automatic turn signal cancellation and emergency brake lights. The motorcycle is equipped with two USB-C ports, one of which supports fast charging at 27W. For long journeys, there is an adjustable windscreen, independent seats for the rider and passenger, and a payload capacity of up to 195 kg.

The front suspension features a 43mm inverted Showa fork with preload, compression, and rebound adjustment, offering a travel of 190 mm. The rear Showa shock absorber operates with a pivot joint system, featuring preload and rebound adjustment, and has a travel of 175 mm. The wheels are 19 inches in the front and 17 inches in the rear, fitted with tubeless tires sized 110/80 R19 and 150/70 R17, available in cast or spoked wheel options. The braking system uses dual 280mm discs in the front and a single 255mm disc in the rear.

The seat height is 815 mm, ground clearance is 205 mm, and the fuel tank capacity is 17.8 liters. Five colors are available: Antarctic Silver, Siberia White, Aztec Green, Viking Bronze, and Tectonic Black. The Antarctic Silver version was presented with a touring package, including a Givi case, hard side panniers with mounts, heated grips, protective gloves, and aluminum engine protection.

Continental GT 750 and Other New Models

The cafe racer utilizes an updated version of the same 743cc engine and was presented by Royal Enfield as the motorcycle with the best specifications in the company's history. However, the brand has not yet disclosed the power, torque, price, or release date for this model, making a direct comparison with the Himalayan 750 impossible (although the figures are expected to be very similar).

The GT 750 will be available in two configurations: one without fairings, retaining the traditional series silhouette, and another with a fairing and lower handlebars for a more leaned-over riding position. The electronics have been intentionally simplified, consisting of a dual TFT display. The colors shown in Milan include Red Line, TT Blue, and Master Clean.

Among other new arrivals, the electric scrambler Flying Flea S6 is built on the FF C6 chassis and lightweight structure. It features an enduro-style seat, a round touchscreen display running Fleaware.OS, and a new off-road mode in the lineup. The electric motorcycle is available in Amarelo Dart and Cinza Lightning colors, with a planned release in Northern Hemisphere summer 2027. Royal Enfield has not provided information regarding power, battery capacity, or range.

Pre-orders for the Himalayan 750 are already open in the UK and European markets. Starting prices vary depending on the market, complicating a direct calculation of the cost in Brazilian Reais. Currently, Royal Enfield has not announced prices or delivery timelines for the Himalayan 750, Continental GT 750, and Flying Flea S6 in the local market.

Kawasaki KLE 500 2027 receives automatic clutch and its arrival in Brazil is confirmed

After relaunching the KLE name in its catalog, Kawasaki has implemented modifications to the line to facilitate riding. The 2027 KLE 500 SE Smartride version introduces an automatic clutch, ideal for starting and stopping moments, in addition to spoked wheels equipped with tubeless tires. The standard and SE configurations remain available, maintaining their original mechanics.

Smartride System Details

The Smartride incorporates a mechanical centrifugal clutch into the existing multi-disc assembly, which remains on the vehicle. This allows the rider to start and stop without needing to engage the lever, reducing effort in traffic situations with frequent stops. According to Kawasaki, the combination of these two systems also makes it more difficult to turn off the engine.

It is important to note that this system does not replace the manual transmission. During travel, gear changes are made normally with the lever and pedal, as in any six-speed gearbox; Smartride only eliminates the need to manage the clutch when pulling away and braking.

Since it is entirely mechanical, the assembly does not require sensors or electronic controls, which simplifies the system and eliminates a layer of electronics susceptible to failure. However, this implies that there are no configurable operating modes or adjustments.

New Features on the SE Smartride Version

Another innovation of the SE Smartride is the spoked wheels designed for tubeless tires (no inner tube), with 21 inches in the front and 17 in the rear, using tires in sizes 90/90-21 and 150/70-17. This feature is very useful for travelers, as it allows a puncture to be repaired on the road without removing the wheel. This characteristic is exclusive to this version, while the standard and SE versions do not have it.

Engine and Chassis

The arrival of the Smartride does not imply any change to the engine. It maintains the 451 cc parallel twin, liquid-cooled, equipped with DOHC and eight valves. This engine generates 45 hp at 9,000 rpm and 4.3 kgfm at 6,000 rpm, using 32 mm throttle body electronic injection and a compression ratio of 11.3:1, with a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive.

This is the same engine found in the Ninja 500, Z500, and Eliminator 500 sold in Brazil, although with a distinct adjustment: in the Ninja 500, it reaches 51 hp at 10,000 rpm and 4.4 kgfm at 7,500 rpm. In the trail version, the power peaks occur earlier, at the expense of higher numerical values.

The chassis is constructed from high-strength steel in a truss format. The front suspension uses a 43 mm inverted fork with 210 mm of travel, and the rear employs the Uni-Trak system, which offers preload adjustment and has 200 mm of travel. The ground clearance is 185 mm.

The seat is positioned 870 mm from the ground, a considerable height for the segment, which may distance shorter motorcyclists. The braking systems include 300 mm discs in the front and 230 mm in the rear, both with two-piston calipers. ABS can be deactivated, which is advantageous in off-road terrain, as allowing the rear wheel to lock aids in motorcycle control. The wheelbase is 1,570 mm, the tank holds 16 liters, and the total weight in running order is 199 kg.

Differences Between Versions

The entry-level KLE 500 version features an LCD panel and a more basic equipment list. The SE comes equipped with a TFT panel with app connectivity, a larger windscreen adjustable in three positions, handguards, and a skid plate. The SE Smartride uses this base, adding the automatic clutch and tubeless tires.

The standard and SE versions of the 2027 Kawasaki KLE 500 can also be purchased with three optional packages at dealerships. The Rally package includes an Akrapovič titanium exhaust, radiator guard, lowered passenger seat, and USB-C port. The Adventure Tourer offers an engine protector and two 21-liter side cases with their respective mounts. Finally, the Top Case combines a rear luggage rack with a top box and USB-C port.

All these items are original accessories certified by Kawasaki, meaning packages mounted on existing versions without altering the intrinsic mechanics or riding characteristics.

The SE Smartride will be available exclusively in Pearl Blizzard White. The conventional SE version will have options in Metallic Bluish Green, Pearl Storm Gray, and Pearl Blizzard White, while the standard version will be offered in the Metallic Carbon Gray/Ebony combination.

Kawasaki suggests that consumers consult their local dealership to check the availability of colors and models in each region. Although Kawasaki has not disclosed the prices for the 2027 line, initially presented for the European market, the brand confirmed the presence of the KLE 500 in Brazil during the Interlagos Festival 2026, without defining an arrival date. Therefore, what is assured in the country is the model, but it is not yet known if the SE Smartride, with its automatic clutch and tubeless tire specifications, will be part of the Brazilian offering.
