Construction of a modern international airport that meets international standards is underway in the city of Bukhara. The total cost of this project is estimated at 300 million US dollars. It is planned that the new facility will be capable of simultaneously accommodating twenty aircraft and serving up to one thousand two hundred passengers.
To ensure connectivity between the airport and the central part of the city, a 24-kilometer road will be constructed. Additionally, a dedicated 5.5-kilometer BRT lane is planned for the rapid movement of buses.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has ordered that the construction of the airport and the associated access road be completed by the celebration of Independence Day. This new infrastructure is expected to significantly improve Bukhara's transport accessibility and provide more amenities for tourists arriving in the region.
Concurrently, international air connections are being expanded. Pegasus Airlines from Turkey is starting direct flights to Bukhara. Furthermore, the opening of flights from Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Egypt, and Bahrain is scheduled for next year, which is a task set before the relevant state structures.
