Uzbekistan and Hungary held discussions on expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation opportunities. Potential projects were focused on sectors such as agriculture, information technology, manufacturing, tourism, and transport.
Meeting Discussions
The issues were discussed during a meeting between Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and Joseph Roiz, the Hungarian Ambassador to Uzbekistan. The parties reviewed various methods for increasing bilateral trade turnover, as well as expanding the range of goods exported and imported by both countries.
Potential areas for joint work include dual education, animal husbandry, poultry farming, automotive industry, and tourism. Furthermore, the parties addressed issues of cooperation in labor migration and optimization of freight transport, including the creation of railway hubs and the launch of regular block train services.
Interests and Cooperation Plans
The Hungarian side expressed interest in implementing projects in water resource management and agriculture, as well as introducing modern banking IT systems and establishing regional IT centers in Uzbekistan. The possibility of creating Uzbek logistics centers in Hungary to improve local companies' access to the European Union market was also raised.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on joint cooperation with the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) to attract leading Hungarian companies to the international forum 'New Uzbekistan: Crossroads of World Markets'. A business forum is also planned to be held in Hungary in the first quarter of 2027.
