A Polish citizen who returned to India after ten years was astonished by how much the country has changed. In recent years, significant transformations have taken place in various aspects of life in India, including the condition of roads, the development of the metro system, and online payment systems. These changes are attracting attention both inside and outside India.
This woman's video went viral on social media. Her name is Dominika Patalas-Kalra; she is from Poland and works as a model in Delhi. In her Instagram video, she compared life in India ten years ago with what she sees now.
Dominika particularly noted the rise in the use of digital payments in India. She mentioned that ten years ago, cash was used in most places for transactions, and people had to carry banknotes for purchases. However, the situation has drastically changed: QR codes are now visible in both small shops and large shopping malls. People can pay for purchases via UPI by scanning a QR code with their mobile phone in just a few seconds.
She also noticed significant changes in the field of airports and air travel. According to Dominika, many new airports have been built in India over the last decade, and the quality of air travel services has improved. Now, one can fly directly from Poland to India in about seven hours, whereas previously layovers in other countries were often required.
Changes in road infrastructure also impressed her. Citing the route from Delhi to Dehradun, she reported that this journey now takes approximately three hours. Previously, traveling on these roads seemed difficult and time-consuming, but thanks to upgraded highways and roads, movement has become much easier.
Dominika also shared observations about changes in online shopping and product delivery. If ten years ago one had to visit physical stores to acquire necessary items, today an order placed via a mobile device is delivered home in just a few minutes, sometimes arriving at the door in 5 minutes.
Another aspect that caught Dominika's attention was the expanded railway and metro network. She mentioned the Delhi-Meerut route, which can now be covered in about 50 minutes. Furthermore, she noted the introduction of new trains, such as Vande Bharat, and the rapid development of applications in India. In her opinion, all these innovations have made people's daily lives and travels significantly more convenient. At the end of her video, Dominika emphasized that India is changing very rapidly, and she wonders what the country will look like in the next ten years.
The video caused a wide resonance on social media, and many users agreed with her observations. One user noted that while foreigners see these changes, some residents of the country ignore them. An Indian living in the USA also spoke about how he felt the changes when visiting India, specifically highlighting 5G internet, digital payments, and home delivery services.
Other commentators pointed out the active construction of flyovers, six-lane roads, and new airports. They stressed that every visit to India reveals something new. Thus, Dominika, returning to India after ten years, demonstrated how the country has transformed—from digital payments to the state of roads, metro, and online delivery.
