Dhirendra Shastri apologizes for comparing Lord Rama and Lord Krishna

Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, head of the Bageshwar Dham temple, publicly apologized after making casual and ill-considered comparisons between Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, deities widely considered identical divine forms in Hinduism.

In a video message published on social media from Nairobi, Kenya, on Monday, Shastri stated that he did not intend to insult any deity or imply the superiority of one over the other. He apologized to everyone whose religious sentiments may have been hurt by his remarks.

The conflict began during a recent Ram Katha in Karara, Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh. While discussing different forms of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri noted that Rama stands upright, whereas Krishna stands bent in three places.

He referred to Krishna's 'tribhanga' posture, where the body is curved at three points, as well as his flute and connection to Vrindavan. Shastri also drew a parallel between Ayodhya, associated with Lord Rama, and Vrindavan, associated with Lord Krishna.

The video containing these comments subsequently spread on social media, provoking objections from sadhus and followers in Mathura and Vrindavan. They argued that both deities are revered equally, and that comparing them as if one were superior to the other was inappropriate.

Responding to the criticism, Shastri explained that his comments were made in the context of traditional devotional practices and expressions of love associated with Braj, the region linked to Lord Krishna. Describing himself as a devotee of Lord Krishna, he added that he also narrates the Bhagavata Katha and fully believes in devotion to Krishna. He concluded by offering humble apologies if anyone was offended by his emotional remarks.

Akhilesh Yadav demands action

In response to Shastri's spontaneous remark, Akhilesh Yadav, head of the Samajwadi Party, demanded action against the preacher without naming him directly. In a post on X accompanied by a video of Lord Krishna holding the Sudarshana Chakra, Yadav characterized the alleged statements as 'extremely regrettable and unacceptable.'

He questioned the logic of comparing two deities in a way that suggested one was superior to the other. Yadav stated: 'Both the protector of the people and the one who brings them joy are incarnations of the same divine essence. What is the reason for such unworthy comparisons? This must be clarified.'

Yadav suggested that the remarks 'resemble the reflection of someone's intentions working behind the scenes' and warned that 'the inability to verify such statements can create an atmosphere of discord and resentment in society.' He emphasized that followers of Sanatana traditions revere both Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, and that these remarks have upset members of the community as well as people from other faiths.

The SP leader called on those claiming to represent Sanatana traditions to speak out against such comments, noting that people from different political parties have united in opposing these statements. The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh stated: 'Any venomous expression against any religion, faith, sect, or its revered deities and great figures is absolutely unacceptable. The issue must be raised at the highest level, and punitive measures must be taken.'

After the attack on Tiger Shroff, Anup Jalota advised Salman to apologize to resolve the conflict

An atmosphere of fear has returned to the Bollywood industry following the shooting incident involving Tiger Shroff. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang attacked the actor, reigniting an old dispute with Salman Khan. Through this attack, they once again demanded that Salman apologize to their community to stop such assaults.

What did Anup Jalota say about Salman? There is dissatisfaction from the Bishnoi community regarding Salman Khan related to the black deer case in 1998. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his group have repeatedly demanded apologies from him to their community. However, Salman decided not to yield to their demands. In light of this, after the attacks on Tiger, singer Anup Jalota believes that the superstar should apologize to end these attacks.

The singer told a news agency that he is very upset about the attack on Tiger. He emphasized that there is only one way to stop all this: Salman Khan must apologize to the aggressive community. He added that he had expressed this thought before, and it is crucial that an apology is requested from the affected Bishnoi community. Otherwise, the Bishnoi community will continue to harbor resentment, and people working with Salman Khan, as well as their families, will also suffer. Therefore, in his opinion, a firm decision to conclude the entire matter through an apology to the Bishnoi community should be made.

Why won't Salman apologize to the Bishnoi community? This is not the first time the issue of Salman apologizing to the Bishnoi community has been raised. Although the problem arose previously, the superstar is unwilling to apologize because, according to his father Salim Khan, Salman has committed no crimes. In one interview, the veteran writer clearly stated that Salman has never harmed anyone. Consequently, there is no basis for the Bishnoi community's demand for an apology, as they claim it is extortion.

Kannada anger subsides after Sonu Nigam's apology, dispute concluded

The anger among Kannadigas, sparked by Sonu Nigam's statement, began to subside after the singer offered his apologies. Following this, the organization Karnataka Raksha Vedike announced the cessation of the dispute. One of the leaders of this organization stated that there was no need to continue the proceedings and that love should be allowed to prevail.

The leader of Karnataka Raksha Vedike reported that Sonu Nigam spoke with him today. During the conversation, the singer acknowledged that his previous statement had hurt the Kannadigas and expressed a sincere desire to apologize for it. The leader emphasized that he had previously clarified that there was no personal enmity between the people and Sonu Nigam; everyone loved his songs, but the specific remark displeased the public, which led to protests and dissatisfaction.

A representative of the organization noted that since Sonu Nigam apologized, the dispute should end. He added that forgiving those who apologize is part of the generosity and culture of the Kannadigas. He also reminded that Kannada music lovers have always supported great singers who were not from Karnataka but enriched Kannada cinema music. In his speech, he mentioned famous performers such as Gantasala, P.B. Srinivas, K.J. Yesudas, S. Janaki, Vani Jayaram, and Chitra. He stressed that despite not being Kannadigas, people loved them, and their contribution to Kannada film music would always be appreciated. In the leader's view, Sonu Nigam is also part of the tradition of such great singers, so it is time to forget this incident and move on.

The leader of Karnataka Raksha Vedike clearly stated that the organization is ending this fight. He called the entire conflict a lesson for everyone. Expressing his love for music, he said that he himself is a music lover. He considers music a means of rejuvenation that helps a person forget life's difficulties. He expressed hope that Sonu Nigam will continue to sing Kannada songs and hold his concerts in Karnataka. In conclusion, he called for love and music to prevail, asserting that music can make people's lives more beautiful and bearable.

Indeed, the dispute arose during an event held on April 25 and 26 at East Point College of Engineering and Technology in Bengaluru. After a video of Sonu Nigam's statement went viral on social media, discontent spread among the Kannadigas. A representative of the Kannada movement Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Dharmaraj, filed a written complaint against Sonu Nigam at the Avalahalli police station. The complaint alleged that the singer had insulted the feelings of the Kannadigas and incited hatred between different linguistic communities.
