Important information regarding the future and careers of millions of youth in the country has come to light. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts major entrance exams like NEET, JEE Main, CUET, and UGC-NET, has started reorganizing its entire system. Having often struggled with allegations of paper leaks and malpractice, the NTA has now created a robust plan that will almost eliminate the possibility of question papers leaking.
Under this new strategy, the NTA has assembled a vast panel of top academicians, scientists, researchers, translators, and subject matter experts from across the country. According to sources, over 5,000 experts have been listed for content creation, question paper vetting, translation (including review of AI translation), and answer key verification. Notably, no fixed deadline has been set for inclusion in this panel, and the NTA will continuously add qualified experts throughout the year to expand the scope of the question bank.
The primary goal of the NTA is to create such an extensive 'question bank' that the experts creating or translating the questions do not know in which exam or when their question will be asked. According to a report by 'The Indian Express', a senior government official stated that the NTA is working in this direction so that the final paper can be prepared by randomly selecting questions from the 'question bank' just minutes before the exam begins. The agency is working on an 'exam-agnostic' model that will prevent the entire examination system from depending on any single vendor, technology, or platform.
Gaining a place on the experts' panel is not easy, as a four-tier rigorous verification process is being adopted for their inclusion. This includes an in-depth check of the applicant's academic background, research record, and experience. Additionally, a special committee evaluates the applicant's academic capability. Most importantly, it is ensured that no one on the panel is affiliated with any coaching institute nor has they prepared any study material or question bank for students. Selected experts must sign a very strict Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) at the time of joining the panel and at the start of every task.
Whether the exams are conducted in online mode (CBT) like JEE, CUET, and NET, or in pen-paper mode like NEET, this new panel of 5,000 experts and the 'last-minute question paper creation' system by the NTA is considered a big and decisive step towards restoring the confidence of crores of examinees in the country.
