Fans actively apply for tickets to the 2027 Cricket World Cup; high demand for India vs Pakistan match

Global interest in the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup is growing, with fans worldwide showing immense enthusiasm. To date, over 120 million ticket requests have been received.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), approximately 2.8 million supporters from 193 countries have registered their interest in the Ticket Ballot system. Requests are coming in not only for major matches but also for various games throughout the tournament.

The 2027 World Cup will be held on African soil for the first time in 24 years. The event will be jointly organized by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Fourteen teams will participate, and 57 matches are scheduled across 12 cities in the three countries.

Among the countries submitting the most active ticket applications are South Africa, England, India, the USA, and Australia. Notably, over 14.9 million applications have come from the African continent alone. The deadline for registration in the ballot system is set for November 21, 2026. Fans can submit applications for their desired matches until the end of this day according to Indian time.

Fan enthusiasm for the India versus Pakistan clash is reflected in the statistics. The match scheduled for October 10 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg received 8,397,294 ticket requests. Furthermore, the final match, planned for November 21 at the same venue, garnered 7,900,944 applications.

In South Africa, where 41 matches are planned across eight venues, the total number of requests has exceeded 105 million. Of these, about 26 million applications relate to games played in South Africa. In Zimbabwe, ticket demand also surpassed the 13 million mark. The match between Zimbabwe and India, scheduled for October 24 at the new Moses Otunga International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls, received over 3.3 million requests.

In Namibia, six matches are scheduled at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, which have received over 2 million applications. Among these, about 900,000 requests were made for the game between England and Bangladesh, taking place on October 8.

Gaurav Saxena, ICC General Manager for Events and Operations, expressed satisfaction with the high level of ticket demand. He noted that the response to the World Cup has been magnificent. The return of men's cricket to the African continent after 24 years makes this tournament special, and the interest from fans in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia demonstrates the global appeal of the event.

Entry into the ticket ballot system is completely free, and no payments are required for registration. Each person can submit only one application per match, but they can apply for numerous different games in the tournament.

The process is not based on a 'first come, first served' principle. This means that submitting an application at any time during the registration period will not affect the chances of receiving a ticket. If the number of applications for a specific match exceeds the available number of tickets, the opportunity to purchase a ticket will be determined randomly through a lottery system.

Information will be sent via email to all participants, both successful and unsuccessful. Participants whose applications are accepted will be informed of the next steps for purchasing tickets. To register, fans must visit the website tickets.cricketworldcup.com, create an account, and then select the desired matches, teams, or stadiums to apply for. The application deadline is November 21, 2026, at 23:59 CAT, which corresponds to 15:29 IST. It is important to remember that tickets will not be sold during the application process, and no payments should be made. Those who do not register during this period will not be able to participate in the ticket acquisition process through this system.

Despite winning the championship, Pakistan faced ICC sanctions for slow pace of play; captain Shahin Afridi admitted the mistake

The Pakistani team won the title by defeating Sri Lanka in the ODI Tri-series final, which took place on October 31 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. However, despite the brilliant victory, the team was subject to measures from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The team was fined five percent of the match fee for slow pace of play. Jeff Crowe, match referee of the Emirates ICC elite panel, determined that the Pakistani team was one over behind the allotted time, taking into account the permissible time deviation.

According to the ICC Code of Conduct, a fine of 5% of the match fee is applied for every over bowled in less time. Since the Pakistani team bowled one over less, they were subjected to the corresponding fine.

The accusations against the Pakistani team were raised by field umpires Ahsan Raja and Wen Knights, as well as third and fourth umpires Sharufuddulla Ibn Shahid and Rashid Riaz. Pakistan's captain, Shahin Shah Afridi, admitted his fault and accepted the proposed penalty.

During the match, the Pakistani team first batted as bowlers and allowed Sri Lanka to score 325 runs, winning 8 wickets. Then, thanks to the outstanding stoic performance of Fakhar Zaman, the Pakistani team reached the target of 326 runs with nine balls remaining.

Fakhar Zaman scored 127 runs off 99 balls, including 11 fours and six sixes. His performance helped Pakistan achieve a memorable victory, but the slow pace of play forced the team to pay a fine after winning the title.

India vs New Zealand match at Eden Park expected to sell out stadium capacity

It is anticipated that around 40,000 spectators will attend the fourth T20 International match between India and New Zealand, scheduled for Friday, at Eden Park Stadium. Consequently, this venue in Auckland is set to witness the highest attendance in the history of international cricket among the three major venues.

The Indian team has already taken an unassailable lead in the five-match series by winning the first three games, all of which were played with the stadium fully occupied. In the third T20, held in Wellington on Tuesday, India secured a convincing victory over New Zealand by six wickets, thanks to the strong performances of Abhishek Sharma and young batsman Vaibha Suryavanshi.

The two batsmen formed a partnership of 133 runs for the first wicket, and India reached the target of 199 runs in just 13.2 overs. Abhishek demonstrated explosive batting, scoring 113 runs off 38 balls, including nine fours and 11 sixes. His performance helped break numerous records and put the New Zealand players in a defensive position.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) stated that over 40,000 fans are expected at Eden Park on Friday evening, and all tickets for the fourth T20 International between India and New Zealand are sold out. This match is also set to break the attendance record for bilateral series in New Zealand. Previously, this record belonged to the match between the Blackcaps and White Ferns against India at Eden Park in 2019, which was attended by 36,523 spectators.

Prior to this, the highest number of spectators at Eden Park was recorded during only two international cricket matches. The first instance occurred during the ODI World Cup semi-final in 2015, when New Zealand defeated South Africa and advanced to the final, thanks to Grant Elliott's memorable six; this match drew about 41,000 people. The second instance was in 1982, when an ODI match between New Zealand and Australia, featuring players such as Richard Hadlee, John Wright, and Martin Crowe, allegedly had an attendance of 42,000 spectators, and New Zealand won the match by 46 runs.

According to NZC, more than 126,000 tickets have been sold for the India tour of New Zealand, of which 71,000 tickets were purchased exclusively for the T20 International series.

Glenn Crichton, New Zealand's Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, noted that the demand for match tickets was significantly higher than expected. He emphasized that a fully packed Eden Park stadium is an experience in itself, and breaking the attendance record for a bilateral series demonstrates the huge enthusiasm of fans for this series. Crichton expressed hope that Friday evening will be unforgettable due to the participation of stars, the amazing atmosphere, and exciting cricket, referencing Elliott's six in the 2015 World Cup semi-final, and suggesting that fans might once again enjoy such a spectacle at Eden Park.

Pakistan defeats England in tense match after umpire's decision is overturned

In a friendly ODI Tri-Series match between Pakistan and England, held on October 25, 2026, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, an incredibly exciting confrontation unfolded that will be remembered by fans for a long time. Initially, the English team began celebrating a victory, but then the Pakistani team managed to turn the tide of the game, winning by a narrow margin.

England set a target of 242 runs for Pakistan. The Pakistani team faced serious difficulties in chasing this target, losing nine batsmen for only 154 runs. It seemed that England would easily prevail over their opponent.

However, Shadab Khan drastically changed the trajectory of the match with his brilliant performance. He took responsibility for the game and gave the team hope of victory. During this performance, Shadab approached his first century in ODIs.

The most dramatic moment occurred in the 45th over. The umpire declared Shadab Khan out via LBW off a delivery bowled by fast Englishman Gus Atkinson. At that moment, Shadab was on 97 runs. The English players perceived this as a win and began congratulating Shadab. The victory of England was shown briefly on live television.

Nevertheless, Shadab requested a Decision Review System (DRS) review. Video analysis using UltraEdge showed that the ball first touched his bat. Following this, the umpire had to change his decision, and Shadab was declared not out. This decision completely changed the course of the entire match. Shadab received a second chance and utilized it fully.

With a second chance, Shadab Khan completed his first ODI century. He played a magnificent innings, scoring 113* not out. On the other hand, Haris Rauf, who came in at number ten, provided excellent support. Both batsmen added 89* runs for the last wicket partnership. Thanks to this partnership, Pakistan was able to reach the target. This record partnership in successful ODI chases became a world record for the tenth wicket.

Shadab Khan was named 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding performance. After the victory, he highly praised Haris Rauf's contribution, noting that the credit for this partnership also belongs to him. Haris Rauf also remained on the field until the end, scoring 7 runs.
