Last October saw a collapse in the prices of gold and silver. The price of silver fell particularly sharply, decreasing by more than 44,000 rupees per kilogram over the course of a month of fluctuations. Those who were unable to purchase silver at a low price during that period should know that the situation began to change in early November, although purchasing opportunities still exist.
Following the sharp drop in October, there was a significant increase in silver prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX); however, the trend of declining silver prices persists in the domestic market. On Monday, the metal decreased in price again.
Regarding the changes in silver prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange at the beginning of the week, silver with a December 4 expiration reached the mark of 184,299 rupees per kilogram. Last Friday, its price closed at 179,132 rupees, which represents an increase of 5,167 rupees or 2.88 percent.
Despite the increasing attractiveness of silver since the beginning of November, investors had the opportunity to buy silver at a favorable price in October. This is evident from the fact that on the last working day of September, the price of silver futures was 223,706 rupees per kilogram, and on October 30, its price dropped to 179,132 rupees per kilogram. Thus, over the month, the price of silver fell by 44,574 rupees per kilogram.
Turning to domestic market prices, according to data from the Indian Bullion Jewelers Association (IBJA.Com) website, unlike the prices on MCX, silver continued to decline in the domestic market on Monday. The price for one kilogram of silver decreased by 1,372 rupees compared to 181,344 rupees on October 30, reaching 179,972 rupees per kilogram.
Changes in gold prices are similar to those in silver prices. On MCX, 24-karat gold with a December 4 expiration increased by 1,515 rupees, reaching 140,000 rupees. At the same time, this precious yellow metal also decreased in price in the domestic market. According to IBJA Gold Rate data, the price of 24-karat gold decreased by 2,530 rupees compared to the closing price of 140,054 rupees on October 30, amounting to 137,524 rupees per 10 grams.
