RIL shares show largest growth in 6 years after publishing strong financial results

For businessman Mukesh Ambani, two positive events occurred during the week. Firstly, the successful listing of Jio Platforms took place on October 28, and then on Monday, the shares of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) demonstrated significant growth.

At the close of the trading day, RIL shares closed at 1300 rupees, showing an increase of 11.60%. This marked the largest single-day gain for Reliance shares since April 2020. Thanks to this sharp increase, the company's market capitalization (M-Cap) increased by approximately 1.83 lakh crore in one day, bringing the total M-Cap to nearly 17.6 lakh crore. Meanwhile, Jio Platforms' market capitalization remains above 13 lakh crore, totaling over 30 lakh crore rupees for both companies.

The historic surge in Reliance Industries shares is attributed to the company's impressive financial results for the second quarter of the current fiscal year. The company experienced a significant jump in profit: compared to the same quarter last year, profit grew by 40.64%, reaching 25,548 crore rupees, whereas it was 18,165 crore rupees last year.

The company's total revenue increased by 28.57%, amounting to 332,861 crore rupees compared to 258,898 crore rupees in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. In addition to quarterly results, the board of directors approved a proposal to raise funds of up to 15,000 crore rupees through non-convertible debentures (NCDs).

It should be noted that Reliance's digital and telecommunications arm, Jio Platforms Limited, also presented excellent data for the second quarter. Jio's consolidated quarterly revenue reached 47,485 crore rupees, representing a year-on-year growth of 11.3%. The company's EBITDA increased by 16.6%, reaching 21,879 crore rupees, while the margin improved by 255 basis points. In the first half of the 2027 fiscal year, the company's free cash flow grew by 98%, reaching 32,130 crore rupees.

Furthermore, Jio's total customer base expanded to 542.4 million (54.24 crore), with 3.6 crore new subscribers acquired in the last 12 months. Jio's Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) rose to 218.8 rupees, demonstrating strong performance across all parameters.

Reliance's Equity Value Sharply Increased: Experts Forecast 58% Growth

The stock market witnessed a powerful surge in activity on Monday, and one of the main reasons for this was the performance of Reliance Industries shares, the country's largest company, whose stocks are showing significant growth and generating profits for investors.

Reliance shares rose by more than 7%, and investors who invested in Mukesh Ambani's company in just a few minutes earned over 100 billion rupees.

Reliance Industries shares, owned by Mukesh Ambani, began moving at a rocket-like speed on the first working day of the week. According to the updated RIL Stock Price, on Friday when the market closed last week, the shares were trading at 1164.90 rupees, and on Monday they opened with a sharp jump to 1228 rupees. Shortly after opening, trading reached the mark of 1252 rupees.

Regarding the increase in investor capital due to this sharp rise in Reliance shares, it should be noted that the company's capitalization (RIL Market Cap) at the time of closing last Friday was 15.74 trillion rupees. By the time the news was published on Monday, it had reached 16.97 trillion rupees. Thus, in a short period of trading, investors gained a substantial profit of 1.18 trillion rupees.

The main reason for the sudden and strong rise in Reliance shares is the impressive financial results of the company for the second quarter of the fiscal year 27. During the period from July to September, the company demonstrated excellent performance thanks to growth in the petrochemical (O2C), digital services, and retail segments. Reliance's consolidated revenue grew by 28% year-on-year, reaching a record 3.62 trillion rupees, and the EBITDA indicator increased by 24%, amounting to 62,409 crore rupees. Reliance's net profit increased by 34%, reaching 29,550 crore rupees.

The second reason is the positive forecast from brokerage houses following the announcement of Reliance Industries' strong financial results. These brokers maintained a 'Buy' rating (Reliance Share Buy Rating) for Reliance shares. More than a dozen brokers, including Goldman Sachs, Citi, Jefferies, and Nomura, predict good growth for RIL shares over the next 12 months. Goldman Sachs set a target price for RIL at 1840 rupees, suggesting a potential growth of 58%.
