Uzbekistan and Abu Dhabi have reached an agreement to establish a joint working group to develop cooperation in the field of agriculture and ensure food security, as well as to increase the supply of Uzbek products to the UAE market.
According to the news agency Dunyo, the agreement was concluded during a meeting between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Umid Shadiyev, and the management of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Authority (ADAFSA).
Discussions focused on attracting investment to the agro-industrial sector, expanding deep processing of agricultural products, and increasing exports to the United Arab Emirates. The Uzbek side presented reforms aimed at modernizing agriculture, creating modern agro-industrial clusters, and developing facilities for crop storage and processing.
Participants also considered the need to implement international standards for food quality and safety, increase the production of export-oriented goods, and improve logistics. Several potential investment projects were presented at the meeting, including the proposed 'Surkhon Agro' agro-industrial cluster.
The joint working group, which will include specialists from ADAFSA and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, will be responsible for identifying Uzbek agricultural and food products in demand in the UAE market. Group members will assess potential supply volumes, applicable requirements and conditions for entering the Emirati market, and study alternative transportation and logistics routes.
With the support of ADAFSA, the parties also plan to organize a visit by a delegation of representatives from leading Emirati companies operating in the agro-industrial and food sectors to Uzbekistan.
