Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Monday that South Africa will host Australia for the historic first multi-format home tour in March and April 2027. This calendar change was necessitated by the new schedule of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy.
The major bilateral series has been moved to the period from March 24 to April 18, 2027, to accommodate the first global tournament in February. The tour includes three T20 International matches, three One-Day International matches, and one historic four-day Test.
T20 Format Matches Begin
The action will commence in the shortest format, under floodlights. The world champions will play matches in Kimberley (March 24), Benoni (March 27), and Portshepstone (March 30).
Subsequently, the focus will shift to the 50-over format, where crucial points for the ICC Women’s Championship are decided as part of the path to the 2029 World Cup.
ODI Series and Historic Test
The ODI series kicks off on Saturday, April 3, at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead stadium in Durban. This match will be the sixth edition of ODI Black Day—a significant event dedicated to raising awareness and combating gender-based violence in South Africa. The series will conclude with games at Boland Park in Paarl on April 7 and Dafabet St George’s Park in Gqeberha on April 10.
The tour will culminate in a historic event—a single-match Advtech Test from April 15 to 18 at Buffalo Park stadium in East London (Gqompo City). This will be the first time this venue hosts a women's international red-ball match, and also the first meeting between the two nations in this format on South African soil.
CSA CEO, Pholetsi Moseki, noted that hosting a team like Australia is always a special occasion, especially since it is happening for the first time. He expressed gratitude to Cricket South Africa and Cricket Australia for their joint work in confirming the new tour dates following the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy schedule.
Moseki emphasized that this is an exciting opportunity for fans across South Africa to support the Proteas, who will face the reigning T20 World Cup champions across seven venues nationwide. The tour culminates in a historic finale in Gqompo City, where the first women's Test between South Africa and Australia on South African territory will take place.
Moseki also highlighted the social significance of the Durban fixture, noting that Australia's participation in the sixth ODI Black Day will help reinforce the message against gender-based violence in the country.
Tickets for all seven matches are now available for purchase through the official CSA portal.
