Uzbekistan plans to employ 250 thousand citizens who returned from abroad by the end of the year

According to data announced on November 2 following a meeting chaired by the president, Uzbekistan plans to provide employment for 250 thousand citizens who have returned from abroad by the end of the current year. Additionally, authorities plan to support those who wish to start their own businesses.

Since the beginning of 2026, 1.116 million citizens who previously worked outside Uzbekistan have returned to the country. Among these returning specialists are individuals who gained experience working in countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, and Russia. Their professional experience covers industry, construction, logistics, the service sector, and agriculture.

Requirements for Employing Returning Specialists

The President instructed the hokims and heads of relevant industries to offer decent jobs to these specialists, utilizing their accumulated professional knowledge and experience. Special emphasis is placed on citizens who worked at significant foreign enterprises and mastered current technological standards and work methods.

A specialized online platform has been developed to facilitate the job search process. Hokims and heads of industry departments are integrated into this system, allowing them to find suitable positions for returning citizens, where their profession, work experience, and place of employment are indicated.

It was also previously announced that the 'Online Mahalla' platform would be launched to support citizens abroad. This system will allow labor migrants to contact diplomats if problems arise overseas, and its implementation has been ordered within ten days.

Uzbekistan to allocate 8 billion soums for creating regional migration centers

A unified migration center is planned for each region of Uzbekistan by 2027, with 8 billion soums allocated for its creation. These centers will be responsible for preparing citizens for work abroad, including language and necessary professional training.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued the corresponding directive on November 2 during a meeting dedicated to labor migration issues. The first deputies of the regional governors were instructed to study the activities of the international educational center 'Intil' and establish similar structures in the regions.

Next year, local authorities plan to prepare ten thousand people for employment in Germany, teaching them the German language and professional competencies. It is also planned to involve five hundred native German speakers in schools and technical colleges, and the volume of teacher training in this language at higher education institutions will be doubled starting from the next academic year.

The need for such measures is driven by significant demand for labor from Uzbekistan in Germany. According to the press secretary of the president, Sherzod Asadov, German employers placed an order for 45 thousand specialists this year, but only about two thousand people managed to find employment. The main reason cited for this situation is the shortage of qualified personnel who speak German.

Currently, together with the German company 'Globogate', one and a half thousand nurses are trained annually in twenty medical colleges across the country. At the Karshinsky College, German teachers teach youth the language and specialty. In Andijan, a local entrepreneur renovated an unused college and began training one and a half thousand specialists annually with the participation of teachers from Germany.

Furthermore, the German firm 'Telc' has begun training one hundred German language teachers at the international educational center 'Intil', who are planned to be sent to regional colleges starting in 2027.

Separately, the president ordered within one month to select twenty colleges that, starting next year, will train specialists according to the requirements of foreign employers. Major corporations from Germany, Japan, and South Korea have shown interest in this training model, ready to participate in developing curricula and equipping educational institutions.
