Young footballers from Kazakhstan who arrived for an international football tournament in Tashkent, as well as their accompanying adults, were taken to the hospital. The situation is being monitored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
According to Sputnik, during the 'Dostlik Cup 2026' international football tournament taking place in Tashkent, young athletes from Kazakhstan were hospitalized. This information was reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to available information, on October 31, symptoms were observed in children and adults having breakfast at a hotel: stomach aches and fever. Fifteen children fell ill within a day. Parents suspect that the poisoning may have occurred due to food consumption, as children who did not eat eggs during breakfast did not fall ill.
However, the exact cause of the illness has not been officially established at this time. Nevertheless, the publication 'Tengri Sport', based on the sports department of Karaganda region, reported that the total number of hospitalized people reached 28. Among them are 16 young footballers, one coach, and 11 parents.
The sick individuals are receiving treatment at the 5th City Hospital of Tashkent, which specializes in infectious diseases. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan also issued a statement regarding this incident. According to the ministry's information, Kazakh citizens requiring medical assistance are accommodated in specialized medical institutions in Uzbekistan, where they are receiving necessary care.
For reference, the 'Dostlik Cup 2026' international football tournament is being held in Tashkent from October 28 to November 2, involving private football clubs from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
