Gold and Silver Prices Fall in October: Precious Metal Values Decline in the Market

October concluded with a sharp drop in gold and silver prices, marked by a significant decline during the holiday season. The fall was observed not only on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) but also in the domestic market, making the purchase of gold and silver jewelry more affordable.

Specifically, the price of silver dropped to 40,000 rupees per kilogram. Analysis shows a substantial decrease in the value of silver throughout October.

To assess the plunge in silver prices, one should look at the prices on MCX. According to trading data, on the last working day of September, September 30th, the price for 1 kg of silver was 2,23,706 rupees, and by Friday, October 30th, it had fallen to 1,78,900 rupees. Thus, over the month, silver became cheaper by 44,806 rupees per kilogram.

Following this significant decrease, the cost of silver fell even lower than its historical high. At the end of January of this year, silver reached a record high of 4,20,048 rupees. Comparison with current prices demonstrates a serious collapse, as it has become cheaper by 2,41,148 rupees per kilogram. In the last week, silver decreased by 16,819 rupees per kilogram, falling from 1,95,719 rupees.

The price reduction did not occur only on MCX; a sharp decline was also seen in the domestic market. According to the updated prices for gold and silver on the Indian Bullion Jewelers Association (IBJA.Com) website, on September 30th, the price of silver in Delhi jewelry stores was 2,20,435 rupees per kilogram, whereas on October 30th, it was 1,81,344 rupees. This means that in the domestic market, silver became cheaper by 39,091 rupees per kilogram over one month.

After silver, we examine the fall in gold prices. This precious yellow metal followed the example of silver. On MCX, the price of gold decreased from the close on September 30th, which was 1,49,036 rupees, to 1,38,419 rupees by October 30th. This corresponds to a decrease of 10,617 rupees per 10 grams. Over the last five trading days, the price of 10 grams of pure gold decreased by 3,605 rupees, falling from 1,42,024 rupees.

The fall in gold prices on the exchange was accompanied by a collapse in domestic market prices. According to IBJA, on the last working day of September in Delhi, the price of 24-carat gold for 10 grams was recorded at 1,47,888 rupees, while on Friday it was 1,40,054 rupees. Calculation shows that gold became cheaper by 7,834 rupees per 10 grams. It is important to note that when purchasing jewelry in the domestic market, customers must pay 3% GST on gold, as well as pay for the making charge.

Silver price fell by 2.40 lakh rupees in 10 months, reaching the mark of 7000 rupees

In recent days, a significant decline in the prices of gold and silver has been observed. Daily drops in silver prices ranging from five to ten thousand rupees are being recorded against the backdrop of the ongoing geopolitical situation worldwide. Usually, during such moments, the prices of precious metals like gold and silver demonstrate growth; however, an opposite trend is observed in this case.

Silver is losing value daily, and gold is following suit. Silver, which reached a record 4.20 lakh rupees per kilogram this year, has decreased by 2.40 lakh rupees over just ten months, reaching the mark of 1.80 lakh rupees per kilogram. This raises a natural question about the reasons for such a fall in silver prices.

On Friday, on MCX, the price of silver with December futures traded at 1,82,500 rupees per kilogram, showing a drop of 3.67 percent or 7,000 rupees by 17:08. Simultaneously, the price of gold decreased by 1.16 percent or 1,657 rupees, amounting to 1,40,900 rupees per 10 grams.

The decrease in the value of gold and silver occurred not only in India's domestic commodity market but also internationally. In the global market, gold fell by 1.26 percent and dropped below $4000 per ounce. Silver, meanwhile, decreased by approximately 4 percent, trading at a price of $50.345 per ounce.

Silver price sharply dropped from its peak, falling by ₹2.25 lakh

In recent days, there has been a significant decline in the prices of gold and silver. This sluggishness continues at the beginning of the current week. The price of silver has fallen particularly sharply, dropping on the MCX exchange by ₹2.25 lakh per kilogram from its historical high. In contrast, the price of gold has been trading in the green zone since the start.

Silver price falls below ₹2 lakh mark

Regarding the decrease in silver's value, a drop was recorded for silver on the MCX on Monday, although the rate of decline was slower than in previous days. During this period, the precious metal fluctuated between green and red zones. During the initial trading session, the price of silver with a December 4 expiry fell to 1,94,662 rupees. Last Friday, this metal closed at a price of 1,95,719 rupees per kilogram, which represents a decrease in the silver price by 1057 rupees per kg.

Silver becomes significantly cheaper compared to the peak

The recent initial drop in the price of silver on Monday has made this precious metal even more affordable compared to its peak level in the futures market. In fact, during the last week of January 2026, the price of 1 kg of silver reached an all-time high of 4,20,048 rupees, and since then, its value has decreased by 2,25,386 rupees (Silver Cheaper).

Silver situation in the global market

In the international market, silver prices have fallen to $53 per ounce, which is the lowest level since November 2025. This metal has decreased by approximately 55% from its peak. This sharp decline amid weak global signals has reduced hopes for a quick recovery.

According to Pinky Yadav, a commodity fundamental analyst from Choice Broking, silver prices are fluctuating due to a major sell-off in the stock market, as investors liquidate precious metals to cover losses on technology stocks. She also noted that a strong dollar, rising bond yields, and tensions in the Middle East have amplified inflation concerns, putting pressure on silver.

Also note the price of gold

Speaking of gold after silver, unlike the fall in silver prices, gold has been trading in the green zone since opening. On the MCX during futures trading, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold reached 1,43,100 rupees, whereas last Friday this yellow metal paid closed at 1,42,024 rupees.
