Transition to five-car trains planned for Tashkent Metro by September 2027

Information circulating on social media about the imminent appearance of five-car trains in the Tashkent Metro before November 20 is deemed unreliable. In fact, the transition to the new configuration is planned for 54 sets, which accounts for 80% of the entire train fleet, and this will not happen before September 2027.

The Tashkent Metro reported that the current priority is reducing the intervals between trains. Due to the high passenger flow on the lines, additional reserve sets are gradually being withdrawn to reduce the average waiting time for a train to two to three minutes.

Simultaneously, the metro, together with the Ministry of Transport and the Tashkent City Council, is working on preparing for the transition to a five-car composition. The concept for purchasing the necessary additional carriages has already been developed.

The exact implementation timeline depends on several factors: production capacity, the process of acquiring and delivering rolling stock to the capital, as well as resolving a number of organizational issues. Therefore, the mass introduction of the five-car scheme is expected no earlier than September 2027.

Metro representatives appealed to city residents to trust only official announcements and refrain from spreading unverified information.

Furthermore, yesterday, the 'Choshtepa' railway station began operating in Tashkent. This station provides connections between suburban electric trains, the metro, and buses, allowing passengers traveling to Syrdarya, Gulistan, Khavast, and Bekabad to transfer to a commuter train without needing to travel to the Southern Station.

Deadlines set in Tashkent for completion of new lanes for high-speed public transport construction

The project to create dedicated lanes for public transport (BRT) on Shahrisabz, Amir Temur, and Yangi Sergeli streets continues in Tashkent. It is planned that all work will be completed by the end of November or the first decade of December 2026. The total length of the new sections will exceed five kilometers.

Work is underway on Shahrisabz street between Amir Temur Avenue and Makhtumkuli Street, where a one-kilometer section is being developed. Completion of construction work on this section is scheduled for December 1.

On Amir Temur Avenue, dedicated lanes are being built on the section from Yunusabad metro station to Bogishamol Street. This section, with a total length of 2.73 kilometers, is divided into two stages. The first stage, which is 1.43 kilometers long, is planned to be finished by December 10, and the second stage, 1.3 kilometers long, is also scheduled for completion by the same date.

Work on Yangi Sergeli Street is taking place on the section from the intersection with Shota Rustaveli Street to the interchange towards Sergeliuly. Here, a road surface of 1.36 kilometers is being renovated, and the deadline for this stage is set for November 30.

Drivers are advised to take into account possible traffic restrictions and strictly observe posted road signs during the repair works. Previously, a new BRT section about one kilometer long was commissioned in Tashkent, bringing the total length of the dedicated line on Shota Rustaveli and Shahrisabz streets to nearly eight kilometers.

New section of BRT rapid bus line commissioned in Tashkent

An additional segment of the dedicated lane for rapid bus transport (BRT) has been commissioned in the city of Tashkent, spanning approximately one kilometer.

Thanks to this new section, the total continuous rapid bus route on Shota Rustaveli and Shahrisabz streets has reached nearly eight kilometers. According to information provided by the Road Traffic Organization Center, this new segment runs along Shahrisabz street, starting from the intersection with Amir Temur Avenue and ending at Makhtumkuli Street.

The location of this section is between the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and City Maternity Complex No. 6. These dedicated lanes occupy the central part of the roadway, allowing buses to move separately from the general traffic flow.

The introduction of BRT is expected to reduce waiting time in traffic jams, increase movement stability, and improve the predictability of journey duration.

City authorities plan to create a unified transport corridor connecting the Sergelyi and Yunusabad districts. Information about further sections and potential traffic adjustments will be provided by the city later.

It should be noted that the previous construction of the BRT on Shahrisabz street led to temporary changes in the routes of five buses: No. 2, 26, 37, 68, and 93, for which detours were organized along neighboring streets.
