Former captain of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma, has left a significant mark on the world of cricket. When he steps onto the field in a jersey with number 45, he instills fear in many bowlers. However, number 45 was not his initial choice.
In reality, Rohit Sharma wanted to play for India in a jersey with number 19. But due to Rahul Dravid, this desire proved unattainable, as Dravid had previously played for India using that exact number.
Recently, on the reality show 'Family Full House With Rohit Sharma,' Rohit himself spoke about this situation and how his mother's decision helped him get his desired jersey number.
Rohit Sharma shared that initially, he wanted to choose a single-digit number (5, 8, or 9). But by the time he could select these numbers, they were all already taken by other players. Then he got number 19, which he liked, and he played cricket at the U-19 level using that jersey.
He explained that when he was selected for the starting Indian team, one of his teammates told him that it was fine in the youth team, but number 19 could not be taken in the senior team. When he asked for the reason, it turned out that this number belonged to captain Rahul Dravid, who was playing in it at the time.
When it became impossible to get number 19, Rohit called his mother that same evening while staying at a hotel. He asked her to advise him on which number to choose, as he could not play in a jersey with number 19.
Rohit's mother advised him to choose the combination of 4 and 5, which is number 45. His mother believed that the sum of these digits equals 9, which is a very auspicious sign for him. Rohit also really liked the combination of 4 and 5 printed on the jersey, and he immediately agreed.
