India makes changes to squad before first three matches against New Zealand

Significant changes have occurred in the Indian squad ahead of the series of friendly matches against New Zealand. The selection committee has included right-arm fast bowler Akib Nabi in the team for the first three matches of the series. Previously, Akib Nabi was included for the fourth and fifth matches of the series.

The squad update was officially published by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Although right-arm fast bowler Akib Nabi was initially selected for the last two matches, he will now play in the first three games.

In the first three matches against New Zealand, the Indian team will be led by Shubman Gill. The team includes experienced players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as well as Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel. The pace bowling group now features Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Anshul Kamboj, Guruveer Barar, and Akib Nabi.

Nitish Kumar Reddy will also be part of the squad for the first match, but according to the BCCI update, he will only be available for the first game.

Akib Nabi's name is also present in the list of players announced for the final two matches of the series. In these games, Shreyas Iyer will captain, and Tilak Verma and Kumar Kushagra will also get the opportunity to play.

Shubman Gill will captain the first three matches, while Shreyas Iyer will take charge of leading the team in the fourth and fifth matches.

The squad for the first three matches includes: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Naman Dihr, Anshul Kamboj, Guruveer Barar, Rituraj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy (first match only), and Akib Nabi.

The squad for the fourth and fifth matches is as follows: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Tilak Verma, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper, vice-captain), Axar Patel, Naman Dihr, Akib Nabi, Guruveer Barar, Rituraj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Yash Thakur, and Kuldeep Yadav.

India's T20 squad for the Auckland match: Two options for Gaththam Gurvir's decision

The fourth match of the five-game T20 tournament between India and New Zealand will take place at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30th. This match is scheduled for 12:30 Indian time. The Indian team, which has already secured three consecutive victories, faces a significant question regarding the composition of its starting lineup.

Significant attention is being paid to Ishan Kishan, who has been absent from the last two matches due to injury. Furthermore, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created a new scenario for player selection before head coach Gaththam Gurvir, thanks to his performance in the squad.

Ishan Kishan sustained a minor right leg muscle injury during the first T20 and was unable to participate in the second and third matches. The situation regarding his inclusion in the fourth match remains uncertain. Since India has already won the series, the team management may choose not to rush his return.

In Ishan Kishan's absence, Vaibhav Suryavanshi had the opportunity to perform and utilized it brilliantly. In the third T20, Vaibhav scored 45 runs off just 19 balls. His partnership with Abhishek Sharma yielded 118 runs for the team in the powerplay, setting a record for the highest score in the first six overs of a men's T20 International.

Abhishek Sharma also demonstrated explosive batting, scoring 113 runs off 38 balls, which led him to reclaim the top spot in the ICC T20 International player rankings. Their aggressive start put the Indian team in a strong position, making the decision about breaking up this pair in the fourth match difficult.

If Ishan Kishan makes a full recovery and is available, the team management will face the question of including him in the starting XI. If Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma are retained, Ishan could be considered for a middle-order role. This might lead to discussions about replacing Naman Dir, who plays at number six, although the final decision will depend on the overall team composition. Another option is to rest Ishan for the fourth match and bring him in for the final match of the series. When dealing with an injury, prioritizing the fitness of the recovering batter should be the main focus.

The fourth match also provides an opportunity to give a chance to players who have not yet made the starting lineup. Mystic spinner Varun Chakravarty, who returned to the team after recovering from a side strain, has not yet played, as has chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, who remained on the bench. There is hope that the Indian team might give Varun a chance in this match. Consequently, fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is likely to be rested.

Projected Indian starting XI for the fourth T20: Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Shreyas Iyer (captain), Tilak Verma, Naman Dir, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarty, Arshdeep Singh, and Prince Yadav. Projected New Zealand starting XI for the fourth T20: Tim Seifert (wicketkeeper), Finn Allen, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Bevan Jackson, Michael Breshaw, Mitchell Santner (captain), Jacari Fallas, Adam Milne, Jacob Duffy, and Matt Fisher.

India has a chance to take the series against New Zealand by focusing on improving bowling game

Despite the Indian team demonstrating dominance in the T20 series against New Zealand, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match tournament, there is another side to the coin. While the Indian batsmen are playing successfully, their bowlers are struggling to make an impression.

In the upcoming match on Tuesday, India will face the task not only of winning the series but also of addressing shortcomings in their bowling game. This match will start in Wellington at 12:30 Indian time. The team, led by Shreyas Iyer, intends to maintain its momentum towards victories.

However, attention will be focused on the players responsible for bowling in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rested, and during Hardik Pandya's recovery period. Special hope is placed on Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh, who are expected to deliver better performances.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar's return to international cricket after four years away has not yet met expectations. In the first two matches played in Christchurch, he conceded 49 and 50 runs respectively for his four overs. An experienced swing bowler was expected to trouble the New Zealand batsmen with his cunning and precise line and length, but so far he has not managed this.

Nevertheless, Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel supported Bhuvneshwar, noting that there is a significant difference between local level training and the pressure of international cricket. Bhuvneshwar had to prepare for his return to the team in a short time, and even small mistakes at the international level can prove costly.

The reserve ground in Wellington will be a new test for Bhuvneshwar. The strong and variable winds blowing there can help the ball swing. Bhuvneshwar has a chance to demonstrate his strength, but India needs not only his experience but also wickets and economical bowling.

Arshdeep Singh's role will also be crucial. This left-arm fast bowler has the ability to direct the ball away from right-handed batsmen and inwards when necessary. Top-order batsmen in New Zealand include Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, and Daryl Mitchell, who have yet to show their full potential in the series.

In the hosts' batting lineup, Glenn Phillips made a significant contribution, scoring half-centuries in the middle order. Ben Vance also scored runs in the previous match. India aims to prevent New Zealand from posting a large score by taking early wickets.

The hosts may also lack fast bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry, who were rested as part of workload management. Matt Fisher and Blair Tickner were included instead. This could be a relief for the Indian batsmen, but they will have to play according to the conditions.

Indian batsmen brought the team wins in high-scoring matches in the first two games. However, the cold evenings of New Zealand and the strong winds in Wellington will not make the game easy. Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi must focus on their technique and shot selection in these conditions.

Vaibhav's performance in New Zealand conditions will be important experience for his future. The opportunities gained in international cricket at such a young age can help him improve his game.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir's strategy of using Tilak Verma, Naman Dira, and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the middle order proved effective in the first two matches. India tested 13 players in the first two games. Vaibhav Suryavanshi got a chance instead of injured Ishan Kishan, and in the second match, Prince Yadav replaced Mainak Yadav.

India won the five-match T20 series against New Zealand during the 2020 tour with a score of 5-0. In the next tour in 2022-23, the Indian team also won this match, which was not cancelled due to bad weather. Now the team has another opportunity to assert its dominance in New Zealand.

A win on Tuesday will give India an undisputed 3-0 advantage in the five-match series. However, the importance of this match is not limited to just winning the series. Batting has helped the team get through difficulties so far; now the bowlers must also justify the trust. Scoring big is good, but a strong team is one that can restrict the opponent's batsmen.

TikTok to broadcast the first 6 overs of the India vs New Zealand T20 series

A new experiment is being prepared for cricket fans: the excitement of cricket will now be available on TikTok, known for its dance videos, funny clips, and viral reels.

New Zealand Cricket and broadcaster Sky have announced plans to stream the first six overs of selected matches from the T20 series between India and New Zealand directly on TikTok. This event is scheduled to begin with the first T20I match on Thursday, October 22nd.

The main goal of this initiative is to attract young audiences to cricket. To achieve this, the initial overs of the match will be shown in the popular vertical video format for mobile devices, allowing viewers in New Zealand to follow the action live simply by scrolling through their TikTok feed.

As part of this program, developed by New Zealand Cricket and Sky, the live broadcast of the first six overs of the match will take place on the official BLACKCAPS TikTok account. This feature is intended for viewers residing in New Zealand.

The first T20 International between India and New Zealand will start in Christchurch at 8:00 PM local time. For the Indian time zone, the match begins at 12:30 PM. It is important to note that only the action from the first six overs will be shown on TikTok, not the entire match. These overs are significant in T20 cricket because, due to fielding restrictions, batsmen try to score quickly, and there is a high probability of losing early wickets with big hits during this period.

According to BLACKCAPS, the first Genesis Powerplay will be streamed free live on NZC TikTok tomorrow, while the full match can be watched free live on Three and ThreeNow.

Sports broadcasting methods are rapidly transforming. Now, organizers and broadcasters are trying to reach viewers not only through traditional television and streaming platforms but also through the social media platforms that young people use daily.

New Zealand Cricket's initiative is part of this strategy. The fast-paced game and aggressive play in the first six overs may attract the attention of viewers watching cricket live on mobile devices.

Through this experiment, it is planned both to engage young viewers in cricket and to motivate them to watch the entire match. In New Zealand, the entire match between India and New Zealand will be available free on the Three and ThreeNow channels.

In India, the broadcast of this T20 series will be on Sony Sports Network, and the live stream of the matches will be available on Sony LIV. Viewers in New Zealand will be able to see the entire match on Three and ThreeNow, while on TikTok they will only have access to the live stream of the first six overs. Although there are currently no plans to show the entire T20 match on TikTok, this initiative represents a new way to bring cricket to the youth. It remains to be seen how much this experiment with live cricket streaming in the era of reels will appeal to viewers.
