Following the Autumn/Winter collection show, Soweto Fashion Week has resumed its activities by presenting the Spring/Summer 2026 season. The event will take place from November 5 to 7, 2026, in Jabulani, Soweto.
The Spring/Summer season features open palettes, where designers explore themes of movement, prints, and color. This season recalls the original essence of fashion as South African fashion gains a wider international presence, and demand for local creativity has reached an unprecedented level.
SFW SS2026 will bring together both emerging and established designers from across the country, uniting them with the common goal of demonstrating the look of South African fashion, which speaks for itself.
Day 1 — Presentation of Emerging Designers
The opening evening was dedicated to introducing the faces shaping the future of South African design. Nine emerging designers walked the runway, including RFL Studios, Zimisele, and Shirley Joseph, as well as fashion students from the University of Johannesburg and Tshwane University of Technology.
Day 2 — Main Show
The second night was dedicated to the show by Mbobo Movement, a brand featuring sequins and denim by Lutando Mbobo. He returned to the SFW runway this season after debuting in the emerging designers block for AW2026. His promotion to the main show is one of the key stories of the season. Lutando Mbobo noted: 'Every season is a chance to grow, but this one feels special. Last year, Mbobo Movement received a nomination for Best Emerging Designer at the South African Fashion Awards, and we presented the brand in children's wear at SA Kids Fashion Week. A lot has happened. This summer, we are bringing all of that to the main stage. Expect bold colors, a true celebration of who we are as South Africans, and a collection that carries tangible stories.'
This evening also featured Precious Lulu Couture, KwaZulu Fashion Hut, Originally Kasified, and other brands.
Day 3 — Main Show
The closing evening of the season merged fashion and art. Television presenter Ayanda Nhlapo presented her brand House of Ayanda on the runway. Additionally, Afro-soul and R&B singer Wanda Baloyi showcased her collection Wanda Wear by Wanda Baloyi. Hoss by Sass by Sanele Thabethe, Dope Store, and others also performed at the final show.
Over three days, the Soweto Theatre runway will tell a unique South African story. Each presented collection adds a voice to the discussion about the direction and significance of local design. Tickets are available on Webtickets, with prices starting from 150 rand.
