Xiaomi releases Xiaomi-OCR-0 model with 0.8 billion parameters, leading in the OmniDocBench class

Xiaomi has announced the release of the Xiaomi-OCR-0 model, a lightweight document understanding model. The weights and inference code for this model are available on Hugging Face and GitHub, the company reported on October 30th.

The model boasts 0.8 billion parameters and is designed to perform three types of tasks within a single system: document parsing, key information extraction, and visual question answering via OCR.

The parsing functionality includes recognizing main text, tables, and mathematical formulas, outputting structured results in reading order with support for native Markdown and LaTeX formats. For key information extraction, the model focuses on invoices, receipts, IDs, and business forms, locating requested fields and providing the result in JSON format for automated workflows.

Visual question answering goes beyond simple transcription, enabling cross-regional searching, numerical calculations, and reasoning based on documents and charts.

Training and Methodology

Xiaomi states that the model is built upon the Qwen3.5-0.8B-Base model and was trained on approximately 170 million OCR and document samples. Data labels were filtered by achieving consensus among several expert OCR models that performed mutual verification and voted on areas of text, tables, and formulas.

When working with complex tables and formulas, the team utilized a 'predict, re-render, and compare' loop: candidate results were re-rendered into images and compared with the original at the pixel and structural level to detect shifted rows or missing characters. Synthetic complex cases included multilingual text, historical handwriting, screen moiré effects, and distorted lighting.

The training process occurred in three stages: first, textual fine-tuning to align visual regions with text tokens; second, continued pre-training of OCR on tens of billions of tokens; and finally, reinforcement learning for mixed tasks with verifiable rewards, such as edit distance and table matching scores.

Testing Results

On the OmniDocBench v1.6 benchmark, the model achieved a score of 96.83, ranking second overall, only 0.04 points behind the leader, and becoming the top performer among models with less than one billion parameters. In the Real5-OmniDocBench test, which simulates scanning, crumpled paper, screenshots, lighting variations, and tilted frames, the model scored 95.24. Its performance on Wild-OmniDocBench was 87.94.

The model reaches 97.84 on the UniMER-Test reference formula test and 92.27 on PubTabNet for table structure evaluation. Averaging results across DocVQA, InfoVQA, ChartQA, OCRBench, and TextVQA, it scores 83.2, surpassing HunyuanOCR-1.5 with 76.5 and 8B MiniCPM-V-4.5 with 82.6, although it trails Qwen3.5-4B with a score of 84.9. It should be noted that all presented figures are proprietary data from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi reports that this technology is already integrated into the Super XiaoAi assistant on its phones, where it can extract boarding passes, queue numbers, bill details, and meeting times directly from the screen. In addition to the model weights, Xiaomi provides developers with a browser demo version, the MCP service, and an Agent Skill toolkit.

Xiaomi discontinues support for MiMo-V2.5 models and transitions API to multimodal equivalents

Xiaomi has discontinued the use of MiMo-V2.5-Pro and MiMo-V2.5 models. This decision was made on October 21st at 10 AM Beijing time as part of the transition of their service APIs to newer models in the MiMo-V2.6 family.

Starting October 14th, requests addressed to the old model names are automatically redirected to MiMo-V2.6-Pro and MiMo-V2.6-Flash, respectively. This transition provides users of MiMo-V2.5-Pro, who previously used only text format, with the ability to access multimodal content understanding through substitution.

Furthermore, for users migrating from MiMo-V2.5 to MiMo-V2.6-Flash, the standard maximum completion length has increased from 32,768 to 131,072 tokens. Xiaomi stated that the new models demonstrate superiority over their predecessors in terms of both capabilities and performance, while the V2.6 series maintains the pricing policy of the previous generation's API.

Xiaomi MiMo-V2.6-Pro Model Available in Tencent WorkBuddy and TokenHub with 1 Million Token Context Window

The Xiaomi MiMo-V2.6-Pro model is now integrated into the Tencent WorkBuddy agent and hosted on Tencent Cloud TokenHub under the identifier mimo-v2.6-pro. This model features a 1 million token context window and supports compatibility with APIs from OpenAI and Anthropic.

Xiaomi's technical account announced on October 20th that MiMo-V2.6-Pro has been launched within the Tencent WorkBuddy desktop AI agent. A similar model is also available in the Tencent Cloud TokenHub model catalog under the API ID mimo-v2.6-pro.

This development relates to the model's distribution, not the release of a new open version, as Xiaomi already released and opened the source code for the MiMo-V2.6 Pro and Flash models in September. The new step involves integrating Pro into the main Chinese office agent and into the model gateway for multiple vendors in Tencent Cloud, allowing third-party applications to call it using familiar SDKs.

According to Xiaomi, MiMo-V2.6-Pro provides a one-million-token context window, multi-agent task splitting functionality, and joint understanding of images, video, audio, and text. Xiaomi positions the integration with WorkBuddy for long professional workflows such as deep research, document handling, design drafting, and small tool development. The company also cited a score of 46 in the artificial intelligence index as the best result among open models, noting that this rating is a characteristic of a third-party ranking and may change as other models are updated.

On the Tencent Cloud TokenHub platform, mimo-v2.6-pro is documented with a 1 million token context, a maximum input of 1 million tokens, and a maximum output of 128 thousand tokens, along with multimodal understanding, deep reasoning, structured output, function calling, and caching. The endpoint supports OpenAI Chat Completions, OpenAI Responses, and Anthropic Messages formats, enabling teams to direct existing clients to TokenHub without rewriting protocol code. The MiMo-V2.6-Flash model is presented similarly under the identifier mimo-v2.6-flash.

WorkBuddy users can select this model as the backend within the Tencent agent. Developers requiring API access should use TokenHub, rather than Xiaomi's open-source path from September. TokenHub usage rates align with the Tencent Cloud model catalog and differ from Xiaomi's previously available self-service API rates for the MiMo-V2.6 series.

Despite the lack of details on the model's new architecture, this launch marks the appearance of another Chinese foundational model as a first-class option within a major third-party agent and cloud inference hub.

Shanghai AI Laboratory releases full version of Atria Dawn with 512K token context window

The Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory has unveiled the full version of its agent-oriented large model, Atria Dawn. This release occurred approximately one month after the preliminary version of Atria Dawn was introduced in mid-September.

The model was trained on the GLM-5.2 base model, which contains 744 billion parameters in a mixture-of-experts format. It is designed to support scientific research and engineering work that requires environmental understanding, tool usage, and multi-step task execution.

The main change noted by the laboratory is the increase in the context window from 256 thousand tokens available in the preview to 512 thousand tokens in the full version. However, the model download table in the project repository on GitHub still lists 256K for both the full model and its FP8 version, so developers are advised to consult the hosted API documentation for the applicable limit.

The laboratory now classifies the model's capabilities into four areas. Discovery involves data collection and systematization, conducting in-depth research, and transforming research questions into executable experiment plans. Creation covers software development, interactive applications, games, machine learning systems, and data visualizations. Delivery allows technical specifications, data, and design requirements to be converted into structured reports and presentations. Cybersecurity focuses on analyzing security issues, vulnerability checking, patch application, and retesting, limited to authorized environments.

Compared to the preview, the laboratory highlights significant improvements: a gain of 7.2 points in JobBench (57.5 vs 50.3), an increase of 2.7 points in WideSearch (84.6 vs 81.9), and an increase of 2.6 points in PaperBench (89.6 vs 87.0). However, the evaluation table in the repository, which the laboratory claims corresponds to its website, shows smaller improvements across most other benchmarks, including AutomationBench (54.7), SkillsBench (67.8), and SWE-bench Pro (61.7). In some tests, the preview showed equal or higher results, such as in BrowseComp, where the preview's 92.5 surpasses the full version's 91.3.

The model is available via hosted APIs with separate international and Chinese endpoints. The repository includes setup guides for SGLang, vLLM, and Codex. The model accepts only text input. The code is released under the MIT license, but the weights for the full version on Hugging Face and ModelScope are currently marked as 'Coming Soon'; only the preview weights are available for download at this time.
