The Sabala DR-500 is a Bluetooth speaker designed to offer a powerful and complete sound experience, suitable for various scenarios, from home gatherings to large outdoor events requiring high volume and audio quality.
This model stands out by providing 500W of power through a three-way audio system, complemented by a robust 81,000 mAh battery that can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices.
Tecnoblog conducted recent tests on the Sabala DR-500 to detail the sound quality and evaluate if the investment is justified. It is important to note that this content is sponsored, meaning the brand requested the analysis, but the result was not bought, ensuring that positive and negative points are presented clearly to aid the purchasing decision.
Upon unboxing the Sabala DR-500, the user finds only the speaker, the charging power cable, and the instruction manual; auxiliary P2 cables and karaoke microphones are not included and must be purchased separately.
To facilitate portability, the unit features an integrated carrying handle, and the physical control panel is located on the top. However, during testing, the weight of the device was perceived as a factor that could hinder mobility, making it difficult to carry on foot over long distances or move frequently between rooms.
The buttons, which are rubberized and well-arranged, allow operation of functions such as power on/off, Bluetooth pairing, Auracast mode activation, volume adjustment, pause, and music playback. Additionally, it is possible to activate wireless stereo mode, change lighting effects, and modify equalization modes.
On the back of the device, the physical connections are located and protected by a sealed rubber cover. This sealing grants the speaker an IP66 certification, ensuring resistance against dust and water jets, allowing safe use near pools or on the beach.
The design incorporates RGB lighting on the sides, which displays dynamic light effects, changing color according to the music rhythm or user selection.
In terms of sound quality, the performance met expectations for a 500W device, delivering 360-degree stereo sound with excellent distinction between bass, mids, and highs, without distortion even at maximum volume.
The total power can be managed by the available equalization modes in both the application and the product itself. The internal mode optimizes playback so that loud sound does not cause discomfort in indoor environments, while the external mode increases sound clarity so that everyone can hear well outdoors.
According to the manufacturer, the DR-500 uses a three-way sound system, featuring three audio amplifiers dedicated to each sound channel. This model is designed to meet various usage profiles, whether at home, social gatherings, the beach, or parties.
Another strong point is the autonomy, with an 81,000 mAh capacity, supporting up to 46 hours of continuous music playback; although, at maximum volume, about eight hours were achieved. The full recharge time, however, is five hours.
The 81,000 mAh also allows the speaker to be used as a power bank for cell phones, but the model only has one USB-A port on the back, limiting simultaneous accessory use, as connecting a flash drive prevents phone charging at the same time.
Regarding wireless connectivity, the speaker is equipped with the Bluetooth 6.0 standard, maintaining a stable connection for up to 10 meters during tests, without failures or delays. The DR-500 supports Auracast and TWS technologies, where TWS allows two wireless speakers to pair in stereo mode, and Auracast enables simultaneous transmission of the same audio to multiple compatible speakers in the same space.
The rear panel offers a complete set of physical connections: a traditional P2 auxiliary input, the USB-A port for media reading or power bank use, and a P10 input for microphones or musical instruments.
The Sabala application allows remote control of all functionalities, such as environmental equalizer, Auracast, and lighting settings, showing good response on both Android and iOS. Features like battery monitoring, timer setting, and shutdown can be done via the phone, which is useful at parties to avoid having to move to the device for adjustments.
Considered a very interesting option in the high-power audio market, the Sabala DR-500 presents excellent cost-benefit, costing around R$ 2,300. In this price range, direct competitors, such as the JBL Boombox 4, offer less power.
Despite the benefits, the weight of 11.5 kg makes constant transport difficult, the full recharge takes five hours, and the packaging does not include essential accessories like auxiliary cables or a microphone. Therefore, the DR-500 is recommended for those who prioritize maximum volume and greater autonomy, accepting the challenge of weight for transport.
