Nintendo Switch 2 Games Run on PC and iPhone After Jailbreak

One week after the first software-based jailbreak of the Nintendo Switch 2, several exclusive Nintendo titles began to function on other platforms. Posts made on the X/Twitter network demonstrated that console games were operating on computers, the iPhone 18 Pro, and even a macOS operating system.

The process was facilitated by open-source tools, such as the ns2jb software, which was released on October 22. Titles like Mario Kart World, Dragon Age, and Zelda were made available in ported versions on GitHub under the MIT license, allowing the code to be accessed for research and testing purposes. It is important to note that these projects only provide the ports; for the games to run, it is essential to possess an original copy of each title.

Thus, the mere availability of these ports does not constitute piracy. The legal infringement occurs only when there is unauthorized distribution or download of the respective game ISO images.

Despite this, Nintendo has a history of legal action against emulators and tools that allow access to its games. In 2024, the company managed to remove Yuzu, a known Nintendo Switch emulator, and requested the removal of other similar tools hosted on GitHub.

Recently, a Reddit user was fined $4.5 million (equivalent to just over R$ 24 million) due to infringements related to more than 30 exclusive Switch games.

At the end of September, two functional jailbreak methods for the PlayStation 5 were disclosed, generating a wave of ports spread across the internet. Additionally, applications emerged that offer thousands of free games to be run on the console.

The ease with which Sony's systems were unlocked raised questions about the possible involvement of artificial intelligence in the analysis and exploitation of the console's code. Although not yet confirmed, there is a possibility that the first Switch 2 jailbreak also relied on AI assistance.

Parallel to the Switch 2 jailbreak and reports of games running on different platforms, new tools that allow running original Switch exclusives on mobile phones and PCs have gained prominence. One example is nxnative, an open-source project available on GitHub, which allows running Nintendo games directly on the iPhone.

According to TechSpot, this functionality is viable because both Apple devices and the console use ARM chips, which simplifies data conversion between the systems.

Other projects exploit this architectural similarity to run the exclusive games on both mobile phones and PCs. The d2r-mobile and MacNativeGames projects are available on the developer platform and hold an MIT license.

After installing the game, launch it and follow the login or registration instructions on the screen. Then you can start a match by selecting the desired mode in the game menu.

Beginners are recommended to take time to learn the controls and settings. At the initial stage, it is useful to focus on elements such as aiming, movement, jumping, and weapon switching.

After entering the map, do not focus solely on defeating the maximum number of players. It is crucial to choose the landing spot correctly, gather the necessary gear, monitor the map, and move towards the safe zone. If you are playing with friends, maintaining coordinated teamwork will be beneficial.

How is Free Fire India Different from Free Fire MAX?

Many Indian gamers already play Free Fire MAX, so it is important to understand that Free Fire India and Free Fire MAX are not the same application. Free Fire India is a separate version developed for India, whereas Free Fire MAX is a different game client.

According to Garena's official FAQ, in Free Fire India, you can only log in with an account linked to the Indian region. If you try to log into another region's version with an Indian account, a message related to the region may appear on the screen. In this case, you should download the correct version of Free Fire India from the Indian app store.

Can I Log In With an Old Free Fire MAX Account?

This question is relevant for players who previously created accounts in Free Fire or Free Fire MAX. According to Garena's official FAQ, the login process and the accounts themselves may differ between the two versions.

Special attention should be paid to iPhone users. If your old Free Fire MAX account is linked to an Apple ID, and you try to log into Free Fire India with the same Apple ID, a new Free Fire India account may be created. This means that your previous account will not automatically transfer to the new game.

Therefore, if you want to use your old account, be sure to read Garena's official FAQ before logging in.

What New Features Are Available in Free Fire India?

Changes have been made and content oriented towards Indian players has been added to Free Fire India. Upon its launch, the company also started a special Diwali campaign that will run until November 15, 2026. This campaign includes in-game activities and thematic content related to the festival.

The company has also implemented features aimed at promoting responsible gaming. These measures include requiring parental consent for players under 18, reminders to take breaks, rules related to playtime, and setting spending limits.

Garena states that the game is optimized to run on smartphones of varying power. However, the company has not released a separate complete list of requirements for every phone, so it is best to study the information available in your phone's app store before downloading.

Screen damage reports emerge for some buyers after the launch of iPhone Duo

Despite expectations that Apple would set a new standard in the foldable phone world with the release of the iPhone Duo, questions arose regarding the condition of this expensive device shortly after sales began. Some users claim that the internal screen of the phone started cracking after only a few open and close cycles. Complaints about flickering lines appearing on the display were also received.

The initial price of the iPhone Duo in India is 299,900 rupees. Given this, buyer concerns are understandable if such an expensive gadget's screen fails upon first use. Nevertheless, it is premature to conclude a serious structural defect in the phone. Complaints have been received, but the full picture of how many devices are affected and what the true cause is remains unclear.

Sales of the iPhone Duo started on October 23, 2026. Following this, some buyers began posting photos of their phone screens on Reddit and other online platforms. The pictures showed cracks or glowing lines in the central part of the screen, where the phone folds.

One user stated that the screen failed approximately six hours after purchase. He reported opening and closing the phone less than twenty times. Upon opening, he felt something unusual near the hinge, accompanied by a crunching sound, after which a crack appeared on the screen. According to the report, this buyer had the phone replaced at an Apple Store. Other users also shared similar images; in some cases, green or bright lines were observed on the screen, while other complaints recorded damage in the central part of the device.

However, caution must be exercised when analyzing these photos and user statements. Every photo published online has not undergone independent verification. Furthermore, there is information suggesting that some pictures might have been taken on demonstration models displayed in stores. Therefore, these complaints cannot lead to the conclusion that all iPhone Duo screens are failing.

The website iFixit, which specializes in phone repair and internal component research, disassembled the iPhone Duo to examine its structure. During the inspection, it was found that dust particles can enter the hinge. Dust getting stuck between components can cause difficulty when folding the phone and, in certain situations, create a risk of pressure on the screen.

iFixit listed several possible causes for screen cracks. These include improper positioning of some hinge part, pressure from a small particle on the screen, increased stress in a specific area due to frequent folding, and manufacturing defects.

An important design feature of the phone was also identified: numerous components and supports are located closely together in the central part of the screen. With repeated opening and closing of the phone, pressure in this area can increase. If any part of the hinge functions incorrectly, it can damage the flexible screen.

In foldable phones, the hinge design is as crucial as the screen itself. With every opening and closing of the screen, the phone bends, and various parts of the hinge move. If dust or a small particle gets into the wrong place, it can exert pressure on a part. iFixit's investigation showed signs of dust entering the iPhone Duo hinge. This raises the question of how protected the phone is during daily use, especially in dusty conditions. However, dust entering the hinge itself is not proof that it is causing cracks on all screens.

This is the most important question in this situation. The initial cost of the iPhone Duo in India is 299,900 rupees. The estimated cost of replacing the internal screen out of warranty can reach 149,900 rupees. Thus, screen repair could cost almost half the initial price of the device.

Nevertheless, the customer does not necessarily have to pay this amount for every damaged screen. If an expert examination determines that the malfunction occurred due to a manufacturing problem during normal use, the repair or replacement may be covered under the one-year limited warranty. On the other hand, the company may consider damage resulting from drops, external pressure, or misuse otherwise.

Nintendo Switch 2 is unlocked via software for the first time through system vulnerability

The Nintendo Switch 2 was unlocked for the first time using only software, just over a year after its release. This method, named ns2jb, allows the execution of unauthorized code without needing to install physical modifications or use modchips on the console.

The discovery was disclosed by researcher Sammy Hajhamid, known by the nickname "pepsipu." The exploit works on version 23.0.1 of the system, which is the latest available firmware for the Switch 2. However, this jailbreak has certain restrictions and does not achieve the same level of access that users obtained on the original Switch model.

The procedure is entirely software-based, eliminating the need to open the video game or solder components onto the board. According to the researcher, ns2jb exploits flaws found in SmileBASIC 4, a programming application originally created for the first Switch but runs on the Switch 2 due to system backward compatibility.

One of the exploited vulnerabilities allows running unauthorized code and accessing privileged parts of the system, including the module responsible for file management and permissions restricted to independent developers.

It is important to note that the method is inherently complex and requires it to be re-executed every time the Switch 2 is restarted. Reports made this Thursday, October 22nd, indicate that SmileBASIC 4 has been removed from some regions of the Nintendo eShop, particularly in Europe, although it was still accessible in other markets.

This unlock opens new opportunities for research and development of unofficial software, known as homebrew. Identified features already include the ability to run these programs, back up save data, modify games, and perform analyses of the Switch 2's hardware and system.

Additionally, the technique allows access to several console peripherals, which could boost the development of experimental projects and specific tools. To illustrate its functionality, the researcher modified the game Mario Kart World, inserting characters that were not part of the original content.

This situation recalls the early stages of the original Switch unlocking community. In 2018, a flaw in the Tegra X1 chip paved the way for homebrew and emulation on the Nintendo console, a company known for its active stance against digital piracy.

The current jailbreak does not grant total control; it does not install custom firmware nor allow the execution of commercial game copies. The method is classified as "tethered," meaning that any changes made are lost from memory and the system reverts to its normal state as soon as the console is turned off or restarted.

The development of this method also attracted attention due to the use of Codex, developed by OpenAI. Artificial intelligence agents assisted in analyzing the console, receiving screen images and sending remote commands, which was crucial for identifying the vulnerabilities.

However, the researcher clarified that this does not imply that the technology performed the unlock on its own. He detailed that the jailbreak required approximately two weeks of dedicated work. The modification made to Mario Kart World for the demonstration, on the other hand, was created with AI assistance in just one day.

It should be noted that unlocking the console constitutes an unofficial procedure. The Switch 2 terms of use expressly prohibit any attempt to bypass or modify the device's protections, warning that unauthorized alterations may render the device or parts of its features inoperable.

Although this does not mean that Nintendo is banning ns2jb users at this moment, there are risks involved in testing the jailbreak on a device connected to the eShop or online services.
