An eight-year-old boy managed to save his father after he suffered a heart attack while working at the family establishment located in Vigo, Spain.
According to the newspaper La Voz de Galicia, the incident occurred on the night of October 20th at the bar named «La Esquinita». The man collapsed, and his wife, Rosy, immediately started resuscitation efforts.
Noticing the seriousness of the situation, the son ran outside and began shouting for help. He found a known family doctor in the neighborhood, Pilar Rúa, who works at the local health center.
The boy alerted the doctor, saying alarmingly: «Please, my father is lying on the floor». The situation was extremely delicate. Pilar Rúa reported that she managed to revive the man after the first cardiac arrest, but he suffered a second one shortly after.
At this critical moment, two off-duty police officers also intervened. One of them went to a squad about 300 meters away to fetch a defibrillator. Thanks to the use of this device, the doctor was able to restore the patient's vital signs.
Rosy recalled the difficult moments, stating: «My husband regained consciousness. They were very difficult moments because he would lose and regain consciousness. With the defibrillator, they managed to stabilize him». Luis was later taken to the Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital, where he remains hospitalized.
In the hospital, doctors informed the family that the boy's quick action was crucial in preserving his father's life. The mother reported that the healthcare professionals stated that the boy «had done a lot», as his intervention prevented his father from suffering permanent brain damage caused by oxygen deprivation.
