Irene Miller, mother of four children, was arrested at the airport after traveling for work and leaving her children alone at home. The situation came to light when one of the younger children called the emergency number 112 following a domestic incident.
The Osceola County police provided details about the incident. The domestic worker hired by Irene to care for the children during the mother's absence lived approximately two hours from the family residence, which would hinder any quick response in case of need.
Irene's children, aged 9, 11, 12, and 14, were left alone during their mother's business trip to Las Vegas, United States. Initially, everything was going normally, but an incident occurred when a dumbbell fell on the youngest child's head while he was building a fort at home.
In a state of panic, the 11 and 12-year-old children decided to contact 112, at which point the truth about the mother's absence was discovered. Authorities confirmed that the children were well cared for and had food available, but the fact that they were unaccompanied triggered alarms.
Irene Miller, 50, was arrested the previous week after the call to 112 by the children. When the police arrived at the scene, they contacted Irene, who explained that she had left home on October 18th to work and planned to return five days later. She is a photographer and was working with a real estate client in Las Vegas.
Miller reported having hired a maid to monitor the minors' well-being before and after school, but admitted that they were left alone at night. Authorities subsequently contacted the minors' father so that he could take over their care.
