Oman temporarily limits fuel refueling at border crossings to 30 liters

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman (Tejarah) announced a temporary restriction on purchasing fuel near border crossings. By decision of the National Subsidy Committee, a limit of 30 liters is now in effect for refueling at gas stations located within a 50-kilometer radius of the country's border crossings.

Nasra bint Sultan Al Habsi, Director General of Tejarah, clarified that tanks can be filled more than once a day, but it remains unclear whether this restriction applies to each person or to the vehicle, as well as the duration of this limitation.

It is reported that this step was taken following a sharp increase in demand at these sales points, which led to fuel shortages. The NSC approved this measure to ensure supplies for a larger number of consumers and to assist affected stations in maintaining continuous operation, while also reducing long waiting times in queues.

Authorities emphasized that the restrictions apply exclusively to stations within the 50-kilometer zone from border crossings, while other stations throughout the Sultanate remain unchanged. The implementation of these measures is coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, OQ, and oil marketing companies to maintain fuel availability at the affected sites.

Currently, fuel prices in Oman are 0.229 OMR per liter of M91 gasoline, 0.239 OMR per liter of M95 gasoline, 0.399 OMR per liter of Ultimax 98, and 0.258 OMR per liter of diesel fuel.

Furthermore, on October 22, Tejarah reported identifying violations at four gas stations that exceeded the established limit of 100 liters when selling fuel to transport tankers. The agency initiated legal proceedings against the companies, emphasizing the need for marketing companies and their affiliated operators to comply with laws, regulations, and requirements.

Tejarah regularly conducts inspections to verify the validity of licenses, compliance with approved conditions and circulars, as well as to improve the level and quality of services provided.
