The foreign enterprise Uklon UB has been recognized in Uzbekistan as a digital platform operator holding a dominant position in the market for aggregator services for placing passenger transport orders (taxis) and providing taxi services.
This information was reported by the press service of the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection. To prevent possible abuse of this dominant position, the agency plans to introduce an antitrust compliance system into the operation of this operator and will conduct necessary monitoring.
Previously, in October 2024, companies such as YandexGo UB, Yandex Eats, and Express24 APP were identified as operators of digital platforms with a dominant position in the market.
There are specific criteria that companies must meet to receive such recognition. These include: revenue exceeding 100 thousand basic calculation units (equivalent to 44 billion soms); having over 50 thousand active end-users monthly or an average of at least 3,000 active business users per month; and a market share of the entity or group of persons in a specific market exceeding 40%.
Companies with a dominant position are not entitled to perform more than twenty types of actions that may restrict competition or discriminate against the rights and interests of users. In case of violation of these rules, a fine of five percent of turnover is provided, as well as administrative liability for the relevant officials.
