Impact of Cyclone Arnob and Rainfall: Weather Forecast for Karva Chauth Day

The weather has changed in many regions of the country. The cyclone that formed in the Bay of Bengal, named 'Arnob', weakened and turned into a low-pressure area. Its impact may lead to continued periods of rain and strong winds.

In Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, and Haryana, precipitation and drizzle were observed on the night of Wednesday and the morning of Thursday. Today is the festival of Karva Chauth, and the question arises whether the moon will be visible through the clouds in Delhi-NCR and other states. Changes in weather conditions may make it difficult for women observing the fast to see the moon. Below is an overview of the weather forecast across the country and the moonrise situation.

Cloudiness and light to moderate rain are expected in Delhi and surrounding areas on Thursday. Gusts of strong wind, ranging from 30 to 50 kilometers per hour, with thunderstorms are possible. The morning weather will be cool and foggy, and raindrops can be seen on the streets.

According to the meteorological department, the minimum temperature in Delhi will be around 20 degrees, and the maximum around 28 degrees Celsius. Humidity is expected to be around 72 percent. The weather should be pleasant during the day, although rain is possible in some places.

Today is Karva Chauth, and women observing the fast will wait for the moonrise in the evening. However, the probability of cloudiness and rain in Delhi-NCR and several other northern Indian states may complicate this wait. Cloud cover may create difficulties in observing the moon. The estimated moonrise time in Noida is around 20:16, and in New Delhi, around 20:17.

In several parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, drizzle or rain fell on the night of Wednesday and the morning of Thursday. Due to the influence of Cyclone Arnob and western disturbances in North India, the weather in some areas will remain unstable. Cloudiness and rain are expected in some places in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. After the rain, a drop in temperature is possible, leading to increased cold in the morning and at night. Nevertheless, the weather is expected to vary across different districts, so it is recommended to monitor the latest information from the meteorological department for local forecasts.

Haryana is forecasted to have light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Wind speeds may reach 30-40 kilometers per hour. With cloud cover, the maximum temperature will be around 27 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Punjab is forecasted to have rain in several places and heavy rain in some areas. People should exercise caution due to thunderstorms and strong winds. According to available forecasts, the weather may gradually improve by Friday night.

Cyclone Arnob, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, weakened to a low-pressure area after colliding with the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28. During the collision, wind speeds reached 125-135 kilometers per hour. Despite weakening, the remaining part of the cyclone is moving inland and continues to affect the weather. It is reported that at least 5 people died in Andhra Pradesh as a result of this cyclone, and agricultural land covering more than 80,000 hectares was affected. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu requested assistance from the central government to cover damage to roads, power grids, and other infrastructure.

Heavy rains also occurred in Odisha under the influence of the cyclone. According to available information, 17 districts of the state were affected by the rains. Gajapati is one of the most affected areas. The administration reported the evacuation of people to safe places and rescue operations. Residents of coastal areas are advised to follow the advice of local authorities and monitor weather warnings.

In the hilly regions, the weather may remain cool. Shimla is expected to have partly cloudy skies with occasional light rain or drizzle. Daytime temperatures may reach about 16 degrees, and nighttime temperatures about 9 degrees Celsius. Light rain is possible in the lower valleys and foothills of Jammu and Kashmir. Snow or light snow is expected in high-altitude areas. In Srinagar, temperatures will fluctuate between 7 and 18 degrees Celsius. In Kasol and the Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh, cloudy weather with light rain or brief showers is expected. In Kasol, the daytime temperature may drop to 14 degrees, and the nighttime temperature to 5 degrees Celsius.

The weather in the western parts of the country may differ from the weather in North India. Mumbai is expected to have partly cloudy skies and warm weather. Daytime temperatures may reach about 33 degrees, and nighttime temperatures 24 degrees Celsius. Some relief may come in the evening due to sea breezes. Most areas of Gujarat are expected to have clear and dry weather.
