The new generation of the Chery Tiggo 7 features few external changes but introduces a renewed cabin and a hybrid option capable of optimizing charging during off-peak hours.
This mid-size SUV, marketed in Brazil by Caoa Chery, was unveiled last week in Wuhu, the automaker's headquarters city in China, during the International User Summit, an annual event for Chery customers. At the same launch, the Tiggo X7, an adventurous variant based on the main model, was presented.
In terms of external design, the vehicle received modifications such as new bumpers and side skirts, in addition to a glossy black grille and LED headlights with more defined contours. The rearview mirrors were repositioned from the windows to the doors, and the Tiggo 7 features exclusive wheels, more pronounced side creases, and taillights located above the manufacturer's emblem.
A module installed on the roof houses sensors and cameras responsible for the 20 driver assistance functionalities (ADAS), according to Chery. The most significant transformation occurs inside. The dashboard now includes a horizontally arranged multimedia center, a digital instrument panel, a series of physical controls located below the screen, and a customizable ambient lighting system.
The front seats have been enhanced to offer heating, ventilation, massage, and electric leg support, providing a sensation similar to an executive aircraft seat. The trunk has a capacity of 505 liters, which represents a reduction of approximately 60 liters compared to the 565 liters of the gasoline-powered Tiggo 7 currently sold in Brazil.
In the plug-in hybrid configuration, named Super Hybrid, the driver can schedule the charging time through the multimedia center. This feature aims to take advantage of cheaper electricity outside peak periods, following the white tariff established by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). There will also be purely gasoline versions, equipped with a 156 hp and 22.4 kgfm engine. A full hybrid version (HEV), which does not depend on external connection, is expected to be launched later.
In the Brazilian market, the arrival of this novelty is not imminent. Caoa Chery recently updated the national Tiggo 7, presenting the 2027 line in August, with an initial price starting from R$ 139,990. Although this model has a renewed look, it maintains the basic structure of the vehicle that has been available in the country since 2021.
