Uzbekistan's thermal power plants generated 15.2 billion kWh in nine months

The enterprises of JSC 'Thermal Power Plants' produced 15.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first nine months of 2026, exceeding the planned indicator by 108%. Additionally, heat supply amounted to 5.9 million gigacalories, reaching 107% of the planned level, according to the company's press service.

The company manages eight thermal power plants with a total capacity of 6.9 GW, as well as nine heating centers operated by LLC 'Tashkent Issiqlik Markazi'. An additional power plant with a capacity of 2.1 GW is also under the company's purview.

The specific consumption of traditional fuel for electricity generation was 272.11 grams per kWh. This figure was 3.46 grams below the annual forecast and 5.79 grams lower than during the same period in 2025.

During the reporting period, 3.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 645,500 tons of coal were consumed for heat and electricity production.

Energy saving measures at the company's facilities are organized in accordance with the international standard for energy management ISO 50001. Based on this system, a plan of organizational and technical measures for 2026 was approved jointly with Uzenergoinspektsiya under the Cabinet of Ministers.

The measures implemented in the first nine months allowed for savings of 52 million cubic meters of natural gas and 137.7 million kWh of electricity. The goal for gas savings was achieved at a level of 137.7%, and the goal for electricity savings was achieved at a level of 107%.

From 2026, greenhouses with energy saving in Uzbekistan will be compensated for half of electricity costs

Starting November 1, 2026, a new state support measure is being introduced in Uzbekistan for greenhouse farms that use energy-saving technologies. Under this measure, the state will reimburse 50% of electricity costs for greenhouses during the cold season, which is from October to March. This support program is planned to be effective until April 1, 2030.

Owners of greenhouse complexes that use advanced methods for heat retention and heating can receive compensation. Such modern solutions include heat-saving coatings, heat pumps, geothermal systems, solar thermal installations, as well as high-efficiency electric heating systems.

The main goal of this initiative is to help enterprises reduce operating costs in months when energy consumption for heating facilities reaches its maximum. The new program is of interest to farmers, agricultural companies, and businessmen who have either already implemented energy-saving solutions or intend to modernize their heating systems.

Reducing electricity bills will allow greenhouse farms to manage resources more rationally and decrease their financial burden during the winter period. It should be noted that local authorities have previously tightened requirements for greenhouse heating in Tashkent and five districts of the region, obliging farms to abandon the use of coal and other solid fuels, or to install corresponding emission cleaning and automatic monitoring systems.
