Mushir Khan demonstrates outstanding performance in Ranji Trophy, achieving a historic result

Mushir Khan, the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan, made a splash during the Ranji Trophy tournament with his all-round performance. He scored a century against the Haryana team and subsequently took six wickets in bowling. Due to this feat, he achieved a unique milestone for Mumbai Cricket Club that had not been seen since 1990-91.

Mushir became the first player in Mumbai's history to score a hundred runs and take five or more wickets in a single Ranji match, replicating the achievement of Ravi Shastri from the 1990-91 season. The 21-year-old left his mark in the match played in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The Mumbai team scored 430 runs in the first innings. In response, Haryana scored 270 runs in 107.5 overs. Mushir took 6 wickets for 85 runs, claiming the first five wickets of Haryana. However, Nishant Sindhu fought hard, remaining unbeaten on 105 runs.

Thanks to Mumbai's first innings, they gained an advantage of 160 runs and decided to enforce the follow-on on Haryana. By the end of the third day, Haryana had scored 73 runs in 21 overs, losing 2 wickets. The team was still behind by 87 runs and had eight wickets remaining.

In the second innings, Mushir also took one wicket. Ankit Kumar, captain of Haryana, was dismissed by Tanush Kotian, while opener Himanshu Rana sustained an injury, being out after the ball hit his helmet from a delivery by Sylvester D'Souza. Mushir caught Diru Singh, who caught the ball at backward square leg.

Nishant Sindhu remained unbeaten on 105 runs off 251 balls in the first innings. His innings included eight fours and one six. He spent 333 minutes on the field and added 22 runs in the second innings by the end of the day, remaining undefeated. Yashwardhan Dalal was unbeaten on 13 runs.

After the day's play, Mushir noted that the pitch had become quite slow. Mumbai spinners were trying to bowl in areas where the ball received more lift and spin.

Nishant Sindhu stated that he has experience playing on turning pitches from playing domestic cricket in Lakhli. There, the ball spun more than it pitched, so he felt playing on the Mumbai pitch was easier. Sindhu added that it was important to bat long according to the team's needs, as the pitch was not completely flat, and the situation could become complicated.

Sindhu, who participated in the Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans camps in the IPL, also mentioned that by interacting with players like M.S. Dhoni, he learned the importance of playing according to the team's circumstances.

In another Ranji Trophy match, the Tamil Nadu team defeated Railway by 5 wickets at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Railway started its second innings with 107 runs for 9 wickets, and its second innings concluded at 108 runs. AR Sai Kishore took 4 wickets for 39 runs, J. Hemchudeshan took 3 wickets for 21 runs, and Ajit Ram took 2 wickets for 26 runs. Sahab Singh scored 42 runs for Railway.

The Tamil Nadu team also faced difficulties in chasing the target of 128 runs. N. Jagadish was bowled by Taufiq Mandal, and Baba Indrajit fell victim, scoring 23 runs. Following this, Andre Siddharth led the team to victory by scoring 56 runs unbeaten off 128 balls. Tamil Nadu won the match by scoring 130 runs for 5 wickets in 59.1 overs, earning 6 points, while Railway earned no points.

Chandigarh held a lead of 345 runs.

In Dehradun, Rajasthan declared its second innings, scoring 290 runs for 5 wickets. Rajasthan had scored 272 runs in the first innings, while Uttarakhand's first innings total was 194 runs. Abhishek Sharma responds to Yuvraj Singh's joke about the impossibility of scoring fifty runs off 12 balls

After the match, Abhishek Sharma demonstrated an impressive performance in the third T20 International match against New Zealand, where his powerful batting led to the defeat of the Kiwi side. He scored 113 runs off 38 balls and hit a century off 35 balls, playing a key role in India's victory by 6 wickets against 0. This win allowed the Indian team to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

However, after the game, the discussion was not only about his explosive batting. His mentor, Yuvraj Singh, praised his performance but jokingly reminded him that he had not yet managed to score a half-century off 12 balls. Abhishek responded to this remark in a humorous manner.

During the post-match press conference, when asked about Yuvraj's comment, Abhishek laughed and stated that he did not know what kind of cricket Yuvraj was playing at that moment, but scoring 50 runs off 12 balls is extremely difficult. He emphasized that such a feat is not simple and cannot be achieved easily on the field. He clarified that the goal for him and Vaibhav Suryavanshi was not to set personal records, but to score quickly during the powerplay to put the team in a winning position. He noted that the main objective is to win the match, and this is the strategy they plan to maintain throughout the series.

In the third T20, held in Wellington, India was aiming for a target of 199 runs. Abhishek and Vaibhav Suryavanshi managed to score 133 runs in just 7.1 overs. Vaibhav scored 45 runs off 19 balls, while Abhishek scored 113 runs off 38 balls, using 11 sixes and 9 fours. India reached the 100-run mark in the first five overs, and by the end of six overs, the score stood at 118, which was the highest total at the start of this T20 match. Abhishek completed his half-century in just 15 balls and scored a hundred off 35 balls, celebrating his success in his signature meditation pose.

Abhishek also shared how the strategy for his innings was formed. He cited understanding the pitch and utilizing the ground dimensions as key moments. During the game, he paid attention to the extra bounce of the ball. Following this, both batsmen decided to use the pace of the ball and the ground size during the powerplay. Vaibhav started brilliantly in the first over, helping the team gain momentum. Abhishek thanked the coaching staff for their work on lateral shots during training, noting that player preparation is critical. According to him, one must hit the ball considering the pitch conditions and opponents. He also mentioned that his pre-match training session went well, and he wanted to maximize that experience. Abhishek said that he envisioned this innings, and it happened.

Prior to this, New Zealand had scored 198 runs in 20 overs, losing 3 batsmen, thanks to Daryl Mitchell's incomplete innings of 89 runs. Mitchell faced 52 balls. Finn Allen scored 40 runs off 25 balls, and Bevan Jacobs finished his innings unbeaten on 39 runs off 23 balls. Chasing India's target, Abhishek and Vaibhav made the match one-sided. India won by 6 wickets in 13.2 overs, surpassing the target with 40 balls remaining.

With this victory, India continued its streak of three consecutive T20 International series wins in New Zealand. The Indian team had previously won the series 5-0 in 2020 and 1-0 in 2022.

After being dropped from the squad and stripped of captaincy, Salman Ali Agha scored an impressive century in ODI format

Pakistan's all-rounder star, Salman Ali Agha, responded to the selection committee's decisions with his on-field brilliance. After being excluded from the Test match squad and removed from the T20 team captaincy, Salman demonstrated his superb form by scoring the fastest century of his career in ODI format.

This bright innings against Sri Lanka attracted significant attention. During the game, played in Rawalpindi, when the Pakistani team started batting in a difficult position, Salman Ali Agha took the initiative and created a real sensation on the field.

He played a fiery century, scoring 107 runs, using 10 magnificent fours and one six in just 90 balls. Thanks to this outstanding performance, the Pakistan team managed to reach a respectable score of 305 in the first innings.

Salman Ali Agha's performance is particularly significant as he has recently faced a series of setbacks at the international level. For instance, he was dropped from the Pakistan squad for a Test match during a tour of England.

Subsequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also stripped him of his T20 captaincy and excluded him from the squad for the series against Sri Lanka. Despite these setbacks and disappointing selection committee decisions, Salman scored many runs in domestic cricket.

Playing for Kingsman Academy in the Presidents Trophy Grade-I tournament, he achieved a historic triple century, scoring 300 runs without getting out. Now, given the chance in ODI format, he once again proved his worth by scoring his fastest century.
