Haier to present new products in Johannesburg, merging innovation and football

Global home appliance manufacturer Haier plans to hold a new product presentation in Johannesburg on October 29th. The event will focus on showcasing its range of household appliances for the South African market and presenting the company's development plans in the country. The event will unite the global strength of the Haier brand, innovative technology, and international football partnerships, emphasizing the brand's focus on the needs of local households and consumers in South Africa.

Haier officially entered the South African home appliance market in February 2026. According to Euromonitor International data on retail volumes, Haier has held the top spot in sales volume for global major home appliances for 17 consecutive years (from 2009 to 2025). Since entering the market, the company has continuously expanded its product portfolio, strengthened retail relationships, and developed local service capabilities, aiming to provide local residents with a higher quality user experience through innovation and design based on everyday needs.

The presentation will feature refrigerators from the Horizon and Flexmo series, the MultiWash washing machine, and the QLED television. The Horizon series refrigerators are designed for daily food storage and domestic use, while the Flexmo series offers more options for various living spaces and lifestyles. The MultiWash washing machine uses a more flexible approach to sorting and washing different loads, and the QLED television enhances home viewing and entertainment with rich color.

Warranty coverage depends on the product type and motor according to the official Haier South Africa warranty policy. Refrigerators have a general five-year product warranty, including parts and labor. Inverter compressors are covered by a lifetime warranty on spare parts, while labor is charged separately, and non-inverter compressors have a five-year warranty. For washing machines, models with front and top loading and a DD motor provide a five-year comprehensive warranty, whereas models with inverter or conventional motors have a three-year comprehensive warranty. Motor part warranties are specific: they are lifetime for DD motors, 20 years for inverter motors, and five years for conventional motors; labor for warranty motor repairs is charged separately. Model compliance and all conditions are governed by the official Haier South Africa warranty policy.

Football serves as an important link between cultures, countries, and communities. Haier continues to leverage its global sports partnerships to find more engaging ways to interact with consumers. Global football partnerships with Liverpool FC (LFC) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) allow Haier to engage with international football fans and consumers. Through football culture, fan interaction, and brand experience, Haier seeks to create a more natural connection between global sporting events and the domestic scenarios served by its appliances.

In September 2026, Haier also announced its intention to become a Global Partner of the UEFA Champions League starting from the 2027/28 season. This partnership further expands Haier's opportunities to communicate with consumers worldwide through international football, reflecting the brand's continuous commitment to strengthening its global presence. In South Africa, Haier aims to connect the brand's global resources with the local consumer experience. Through product demonstrations, interactive events, and retail partnerships, the brand wants consumers to understand its global capabilities and appreciate the value of its goods and services.

The new product presentation on October 29th will gather media representatives, retail partners, and industry guests to showcase Haier's latest offerings, brand direction, and long-term commitment to the South African market. As local business develops, Haier will continue to respond to the daily needs of South African households and explore further connections between technology, products, and lifestyle.

Godrej Properties plans to launch projects worth ₹32,000 crore in the second half of FY27

Godrej Properties Ltd (GPL), a real estate division of Godrej Industries Group, announced a combined portfolio of projects valued at over ₹32,000 crore for the second half of fiscal year 27. This was stated by Managing Director and CEO Gaurav Panday during a conference call on the company's quarterly results for September.

Panday stated that the company is highly confident that both the third and fourth quarters will be very promising, given the accumulated launch pipeline for the second half.

Discussion on Land Acquisitions

Regarding land acquisitions, Godrej Properties Ltd Chairperson Piradja Godrej emphasized that the company will only consider new projects if they meet established profitability thresholds. She specified that business development will proceed only upon meeting profitability metrics such as 20% IRR and a booking margin to net profit of 15%.

Despite future plans, GPL reported a 62% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for the September quarter, amounting to ₹154 crore compared to ₹405 crore in the second quarter of the previous fiscal year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) also decreased by 72%, reaching ₹171 crore against ₹614 crore in Q2 FY26.

Nevertheless, GPL's total revenue increased by 38%, reaching ₹2,575 crore compared to ₹1,867 crore in the same period last year. The company registered sales of ₹8,000 crore in the second quarter, and the booking value for the first half ending in September grew by 7% year-on-year to ₹16,659 crore, marking the highest first-half booking value achieved by Godrej Properties.

Commenting on the second-quarter results, Godrej noted that while some revenue and booking figures may appear modest, the second quarter was a very strong operational period. This was driven by sales growth under the Godrej Trilogy program in Mumbai, Godrej Vanantara in Bangalore, and Godrej Samaris in Gurugram, each contributing over ₹500 crore to sales in the quarter. Additionally, the Godrej Brooklyn Avenue project in Hyderabad, launched closer to the end of the first quarter, also brought in over ₹500 crore in bookings.

The company reported that although GPL launched only one-third of its planned annual launch volume in the first half of FY27, it still achieved 43% of its annual booking forecast. Godrej added that the project portfolio has never been this strong, and with a significant increase in launches starting from the current month, the company remains confident in exceeding the annual forecast across all key operating metrics.

Projects worth over ₹32,000 crore are expected to be launched in the second half of FY27. Godrej stated that the second half of the current fiscal year will be the best period for both launches and sales. GPL achieved record collections in the second quarter and the first half, with collections growing by 31% year-on-year in Q2 FY27 to ₹5,318 crore and by 25% in H1 FY27 to ₹9,666 crore. Operating cash flow in the second quarter increased by 297% quarter-on-quarter and by 33% year-on-year, reaching ₹1,584 crore.

Godrej also noted that FY28 is an important year for the company, when the exceptional growth of recent years will become evident in the reporting once projects are completed. The company expects to achieve positive free cash flow and 20% return on equity (ROE) in FY28. Furthermore, Godrej reported that GPL is focused on generating strong cash flow and forecasts receipts of ₹15,000 crore and operating cash flow of ₹7,000 crore in the second half of FY27.

Haier launches new home appliances in India: 3 drum washing machine, 5 door refrigerator, and TVs up to 115 inches

Haier has introduced several new home appliances into the Indian market. These products include three-drum washing machines with AI features, a five-door refrigerator, and mini LED TVs up to 115 inches. The washing machine is priced at ₹1.30 lakh, while the refrigerator costs over ₹2.59 lakh.

Generally, consumers focus on capacity, power consumption, and price when purchasing refrigerators, washing machines, and TVs. However, companies are now introducing advanced features that can change the way household chores are done. The company unveiled new refrigerators, washing machines, mini LED TVs, water heaters, and kitchen chimneys in an event called 'Elevate with Haier'.

The three-drum washing machine and the five-door refrigerator drew particular attention in this launch. The company claims that these appliances have been equipped with features that can simplify tasks ranging from laundry to food storage.

A key feature of Haier's M3 series washing machine is its three separate drums. It includes one main 10 kg drum and two smaller 1-1 kg drums, resulting in a total capacity of 12 kg.

The benefit of this is that family members can wash everyday clothes, children's wear, and delicate garments separately in different drums simultaneously, reducing the need to run separate washing cycles each time. However, whether running all three drums together saves significant time and electricity depends on the usage and the selected washing mode.

This machine also features an AI Wash function. According to the company, it assists in selecting the washing method based on the load of the clothes. Additionally, the Essence Wash feature pre-mixes detergent and water, while Smart Dosing is designed to provide the required amount of detergent and fabric softener.

The machine is also available with a color touchscreen, Wi-Fi connectivity, and smartphone control. The company claims that its Quick Clean feature helps in quickly washing clothes. The starting price for the Haier M3 series washing machine is set at ₹1,30,000. The company offers a four-year comprehensive machine warranty and a 12-year motor warranty on this product.

Haier has also released the In-Vista five-door side-by-side refrigerator, priced at ₹2,59,990. The company states that this is India's first five-door built-in refrigerator.

This refrigerator is specifically designed for homes where the fridge needs to be installed in the same design as the cabinet in the kitchen. It features bottom heat exchange technology, allowing it to be installed next to the kitchen cabinet without leaving space on the side. However, it is necessary to check the company's terms regarding space and installation before setting it up.

The refrigerator provides five different temperature zones, including a standard fridge, a separate compartment for fresh fruits and vegetables, a convertible zone, a freezer, and a deep freeze zone. The temperature of the convertible zone can be adjusted from -20 degrees Celsius to 5 degrees Celsius, meaning this section can be used as either a fridge or a freezer as needed.

In addition to the various temperature zones, it also features an automatic ice maker and app control. The company's MRA Fresh feature is designed to maintain moisture for fruits and vegetables, aiming to keep them fresh for longer. However, how long the food remains fresh also depends on its type and storage conditions.

Haier has also introduced the M70, M80, and M96 mini LED series in its TV portfolio. Their prices and screen sizes vary so that customers can choose options according to their needs and budget.

The M70 series starts at ₹39,490, with screen options ranging from 43 inches to 85 inches. This TV runs on Google TV and comes with features such as Gemini support, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 120Hz gaming support. It also includes a 2.1-channel sound system of 50 watts and Dolby Atmos.

The M80 series starts at ₹70,490 and is available in screen sizes from 55 inches to 85 inches. Meanwhile, the M96 series is for consumers who want a very large screen TV at home, offering 100-inch and 115-inch options. Its starting price is ₹4,19,990.

The M96 series features SQD mini LED technology and a 6.2.2-channel speaker system. Such large-screen TVs can be attractive to people who want a better entertainment experience at home or in a large room. However, it is important to consider the room size, viewing distance, and installation space before buying the TV.

Along with the new home appliances, Haier has also launched the Velox electric storage water heater and the Halo kitchen chimney. The Velox water heater comes in 15-liter and 25-liter capacities, with a starting price of ₹13,990. The company claims that it heats water faster compared to conventional water heaters and offers 11 safety features.

The Halo kitchen chimney starts at ₹23,000. It has a suction capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per hour. The company has added a BLDC motor, smoke detection feature, and auto-cleaning function to it.
