Jio Platforms successfully debuts on NSE, showing 21.3% stock growth

Shares of Jio Platforms were traded on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, demonstrating an increase of 21.3%. This allowed it to achieve a market capitalization of ₹12,50,954 crore (equivalent to approximately $131 billion).

The Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Jio Platforms, amounting to ₹30,213 crore, was valued at ₹1,119 per share. The IPO generated immense interest from investors as it was oversubscribed in less than two hours on the opening day and closed with a 22-fold oversubscription.

Jio Platforms positions itself as a technology company, focusing on developing digital services, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to drive growth beyond telecommunications. Akash Ambani, Managing Director of Jio Platforms, emphasized that the company has no choice between different directions, stating: 'The network is our technology.'

He also noted that the company utilizes its own 5G core, cloud radio access network, and software platform, which serves 533.3 million customers. Ambani added that while a communication service was initially created on this platform, digital services, AI, and cloud technologies are now layered on top of it.

Financial analysts are optimistic about Jio Platforms' prospects. In its analytical report, Motilal Oswal indicated that the expansion of digital platforms (including cloud solutions, enterprise communications, IoT, and managed services, as well as international partnerships for 5G/UBR technologies) will provide the company with the next stage of growth beyond the telecom business.

This brokerage firm set a target price of ₹1,690 crore in an optimistic scenario and ₹1,035 crore in a pessimistic one.

The listing of Jio Platforms could potentially cause significant shifts in the market capitalization dynamics on Indian stock exchanges. There is a possibility that two companies from the Reliance group—Reliance Industries and Jio Platforms—could enter the top five most valuable companies in the country, with Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank being three other contenders.

Jio Platforms IPO sees high demand; Eternal's net profit grew by 92% in the second quarter

The Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Jio Platforms demonstrated high investor interest, setting the tone for a week focused on investor confidence, technological aspirations, and digital trust. The offering, valued at ₹30,213 crore, attracted significant demand from Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) just two hours after opening on Wednesday, with the institutional portion being subscribed nearly five times. Jio's ambitions span telecommunications, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, and digital services, although participation from retail and non-institutional investors was relatively modest.

Competition in the AI sector is also intensifying. OpenAI is expanding its collaboration with Microsoft by deploying its models on Google Cloud, indicating a more diversified approach to computing infrastructure amid growing demand for AI services.

However, the advancement of AI raises questions about who will set the rules for this technology. One report highlights an apparent contradiction surrounding OpenAI President Greg Brockman, who advocates for AI safeguards, while a political group that received $25 million from him and his wife opposes regulation that could restrict AI development. This discussion underscores the tension between responsible AI development and the industry's drive for innovation.

Meanwhile, cybersecurity issues are casting doubt on digital trust. eMudhra came under scrutiny after weak intermediate certificate authority keys raised concerns about website security. This situation prompted browser operators to adopt protective measures, although the company itself stated that its digital signature and eSign services in India remained unaffected.

Adding to these issues was an alleged leak of 3,897 SBI customer records, once again raising questions about the security of sensitive financial information and data breaches in the dark web.

Trivia

Eternal, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, reported a 92.3% year-on-year growth in net profit to ₹125 crore in the second quarter of fiscal year 27, with revenue increasing by 78% to ₹24,138 crore. Blinkit continued to drive growth, increasing net order value by 79.3% and achieving profitability on adjusted EBITDA. Nevertheless, Eternal's net profit did not meet analysts' expectations, even though the food delivery business showed a 21.5% increase in net order value.

Actor and theatre personality Prakash Belavadi discussed what artificial intelligence (AI) is capable of and incapable of replacing in human creativity and work. He urged people to reconnect with their inner artist and find meaning in life beyond commercial success. As AI transforms workplaces and industries, he emphasized the importance of life experience, individual self-expression, and using technology to improve life.

Jio Platforms IPO becomes the fastest subscribed mega-IPO in India, surpassing Hyundai and LG

The IPO of Jio Platforms, owned by Mukesh Ambani, is open to investors who can apply until October 23. On Wednesday, the opening day, the IPO received a very strong response from investors, making it the fastest-subscribed mega-IPO.

The qualified institutional buyer (QIB) category played the biggest role in this. The IPO was fully subscribed in just 100 minutes, at which point the QIB category had achieved more than triple subscription, and this figure continued to rise. By noon, at 3:30 PM, the category reached a subscription rate of 8.01 times.

Thanks to this rapid full subscription, the Jio Platforms IPO set a historical record and entered the list of the fastest-subscribed mega-IPOs launched in India to date. Previously, the largest IPO in India by issue price was Hyundai Motor India, with a volume of 27,870 crore rupees, but it yielded to Jio in terms of subscription metrics. Furthermore, the reaction to Mukesh Ambani's company IPO was significantly faster compared to the IPOs of Bajaj Housing Finance Limited and LG Electronics India Limited.

Regarding the first-day subscription, by approximately 3:30 PM, the QIB category was subscribed 8.01 times, while the NII category received a 1.41-fold subscription. The retail investor category showed a rate of 0.64 times. Employee quotas were also subscribed at 1.21 times, and shareholder quotas at 1.23 times.

The Jio Platforms IPO attracted funds amounting to 30,213 crore rupees in the primary market. The price band was set at 1065–1119 rupees, and the lot size is 12 shares. This offering does not include an Offer for Sale; instead, 270 million new shares are issued to investors.

The company plans to use up to 27,500 crore rupees of the raised funds to repay or prepay debts of its telecommunications subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. The remaining amount will be allocated to general corporate purposes.

Jio Platforms IPO prepares for market debut; preliminary estimates indicate high profit potential

Jio Platforms, owned by Mukesh Ambani, is preparing to enter the stock market, concluding investors' wait. The Jio IPO will open to retail investors on Wednesday. Details, including the price range and lot size, have already been disclosed, and even before the official IPO launch, it shows strong signs of high earnings in the grey market.

This IPO is the first from Mukesh Ambani's group of companies since Reliance Industries, which occurred a long time ago—after 2008. The Jio IPO has also received significant positive feedback from institutional investors. On Monday, anchor investors placed an order worth 30 times, applying for 2.5 lakh crore rupees for shares valued at 8110 crore rupees.

The Jio Platforms IPO was open to anchor investors on October 19, and it will be available to retail investors starting October 21. Investors can apply within three days, until October 23. The total size of the Jio Platforms IPO is 30,213 crore rupees, making it the largest IPO in the country by offering volume at present. The price range is set between 1065–1119 rupees per share.

An investor can become a partner in the company's future profits after listing by investing just over 13,000 rupees in Mukesh Ambani's IPO. This is because the lot size for retail investors is set at 12 shares. Consequently, the investor must apply for at least this number of shares. When calculated at the upper limit of the price range, the investment in one lot will amount to 13,428 rupees, and retail investors can apply for a maximum of 13 lots.

After the Jio Platforms IPO opens on October 21 and closes on October 23, the allocation of shares among applicants will take place on October 26. October 27 is scheduled for fund refunds and share crediting. The Jio IPO listing on BSE-NSE is planned for October 28. The company has allocated 50 percent of the quota for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB), 15 percent is reserved for NII, and 35 percent is designated for retail investors.

The Jio Platforms IPO has begun signaling to investors the possibility of significant profits even before the official start. Shares are actively traded in the grey market, and according to the GMP analysis of Jio IPO on Tuesday around 13:30, it was trading with a 22% premium. Based on this indicator, the Jio Platform Share listing is predicted at 1366 rupees, which means a potential profit of 247 rupees per share.
