Harley-Davidson brands are extremely popular among motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide, including in India. However, traditionally, Harley models have remained inaccessible to a wide range of buyers, especially cruisers. This situation may now change as Harley-Davidson prepares to introduce its most budget-friendly cruiser model—the Harley Sprint 440.
The company recently released a teaser of this model on its global website, showing only its silhouette. However, a full photograph has since appeared ahead of the official launch. A Reddit user under the username 'Extreme Ankit' shared a picture of the Harley Sprint 440 in a production workshop.
Interestingly, the motorcycle is presented completely uncovered, without any camouflage. It appears to be a ready-to-release version, possibly prepared for shipment before sales begin. This model is being developed jointly by Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp, raising expectations regarding its low cost, likely making it the most affordable cruiser model in Harley's portfolio.
Regarding the appearance and design of the Harley Sprint 440, the motorcycle features a new fuel tank. The seat is a single unit, with the rider's area slightly recessed and part of the passenger seat positioned slightly higher. The handlebars also have a rise and are turned towards the rider, lending the motorcycle a classic cruiser look.
Most elements of the motorcycle have a black finish, although shiny heat shields are installed on the engine and exhaust pipe mechanical ribs. The black fuel tank features a graphic element with an orange trim, and a large Harley-Davidson branding inscription is visible in the center. The word 'Sprint' is also present on the new side panels.
The front section of the Sprint 440 is equipped with a round headlight surrounded by chrome elements, and the turn signals feature a simple design. A small wing-shaped shield is mounted at the front. The absence of a large windscreen gives the motorcycle a very clean front profile; the company might offer the windscreen as an optional accessory.
In terms of equipment, the motorcycle has an upside-down fork at the front and dual rear shock absorbers. It is equipped with disc brakes on both wheels, and the wheel design is similar to the X440, featuring machined finishing. A ring sensor for ABS is also visible on the front wheel.
Based on the photographs, the base of the Sprint 440 may be longer than the X440, and the rake angle of the front fork appears different. The footrests are positioned slightly further forward compared to the X440, but they are not too far out and remain close to the engine. This combination provides a cruiser aesthetic and comfort for city riding.
The new Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 includes a round instrument cluster above the handlebars, whose design resembles the console found on the X440. This cluster is slightly tilted towards the rider to facilitate viewing information while driving. Switches and a traditional ignition system are also visible in the pictures.
Official details regarding the engine and technical specifications are still absent. However, it is speculated that the company might use an engine similar to the one installed in the Harley-Davidson X440. It is expected that this model will feature a 440cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a six-speed gearbox. The X440 engine generates 27 hp and 38 Nm of torque, although the engine for the Sprint 440 may be individually tuned.
The company has not yet announced an official release schedule for the Harley-Davidson Sprint 440. However, the motorcycle is anticipated to be unveiled at the EICMA exhibition, which begins on November 3rd in Milan, Italy. As for the price, it is premature to make any statements, but the company is expected to introduce it with a starting price of 2.40 lakh rupees.
