The Tamil Nadu government has made changes to the cost of travel on public transport in the state, which occurred after 15 years. This decision was made following prolonged protests from public transport drivers.
According to the new rules, passengers must pay 50 rupees for the initial distance of 1.8 kilometers. After that, a fee of 25 rupees will be charged for each additional kilometer.
The government's decision to adjust public transport fares in Tamil Nadu was made after fifteen years. Public transport drivers had long demanded a review of service costs. New rates have now been established, according to which 50 rupees must be paid for the first 1.8 kilometers of travel by car.
Furthermore, in Tamil Nadu, prices for various dairy products have increased before the Diwali festival. The state dairy brand Aavin has decided to raise prices on its 63 products. The new rates will come into effect on October 28. This increase will affect items such as ghee, butter, yogurt, milkshakes, and sweets.
Under the new prices, a 100 ml pack of ghee will now cost 95 rupees instead of the previous 80 rupees. The price for 200 ml of ghee has increased from 160 rupees to 180 rupees. Additionally, the price of 100 grams of butter has risen from 60 rupees to 70 rupees, and 500 grams of yogurt has become more expensive from 35 rupees to 40 rupees.
Aavin explained the reason for the price increase as an increase in raw material costs, milk procurement, and production expenses. Since demand for dairy products and sweets increases during Diwali, the new prices may affect consumers' budgets.
