Prime Minister Modi calls for the use of artificial intelligence to protect systems and serve humanity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that while artificial intelligence is capable of providing quick answers, verifying their accuracy must remain the responsibility of the scientist. He strongly urged scientists toward bold innovations.

Speaking at the 'Conclave on Emerging Sciences, Technologies, and Innovations,' Modi highlighted cybersecurity threats in the age of AI that could endanger financial networks and national security. He called for developing AI-based solutions and quantum methods to protect national systems and assist humanity.

The Prime Minister noted: 'In the age of AI, there are challenges. While AI can perform tasks to increase productivity, it must enrich, not restrict, independent thinking, allowing researchers to use saved time for more complex tasks, new experiments, and idea validation.'

These remarks by Modi came against a backdrop of nationwide calls for AI regulation due to fears that the technology might spiral out of control, as the government prepares a consultative document on India's AI policy.

Modi emphasized that the concept of 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) will be based on scientific research, discoveries, and innovations. He addressed researchers, industry leaders, startup founders, and students with a call to set a three-year deadline for creating a technology, prototype, pilot project, or product that could make India a global hub for solutions.

Furthermore, Modi stated that India must prepare a generation that will lead the development of science and technology, rather than merely participate in it, and called for strengthening the country's potential in critical technologies.
