Album 'Arirang' and the world tour

BTS, globally recognized as a K-pop icon, had not released a group project since 2022. The seven members—Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—had to fulfill mandatory military service in the South Korean Armed Forces.

RM, Suga, V, Jimin, and Jungkook were discharged from mandatory service in June 2025. Meanwhile, the other two members, Jin and J-Hope, had already been discharged previously and participated in solo shows and variety programs.

V expressed his gratitude to fans and the media at the time, saying: 'To all the fans who waited for us, I want to say that I am very, very grateful. Please wait just a little longer and we will return with a great performance.'

On March 13 of this year, Big Hit Entertainment released the cover of BTS's album 'Arirang'. The album was released on the 20th and marked the first album with new songs from the group since 'Map of the Soul: 7' in 2020.

'Arirang' is presented as a 'special thank you' to fans for the loyalty shown by the group during this period. A press release from Big Hit, BTS's administrator, stated that 'Transcending time and generations, the song has long been associated with emotions of connection, distance, and reunion.'

The album is described as 'a deeply reflective work' that investigates the members' 'identity and roots'. The group's live debut after their return was broadcast on Netflix on March 21. Additionally, the platform released the documentary 'BTS: The Reunion' on March 27, detailing the creation process of the new album.
