The Health Secretariat of Santa Catarina (SES) is investigating the reasons for the death of Daiane Deucher dos Santos, who was hospitalized after feeling unwell during a colonoscopy performed at a private clinic located in Ibirama, in the Itajaí Valley. In addition to this case, another 12 patients who underwent exams at the same location required medical assistance from the public system since last week.
Daiane's death was confirmed on Monday, the 26th, three days after her second hospitalization at Doctor Waldomiro Colautti Hospital, which is managed by the SES. The day before, Thursday the 22nd, she suffered a seizure, was attended to, and released.
According to a family member who requested anonymity, the report indicated an aneurysm as the cause of death, although she also presented with a bacterial infection.
Of the other 12 patients who received public care after the colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures at the clinic, two remained hospitalized on Tuesday, the 27th, one of them in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Due to the high number of occurrences, the clinic WS Centro Clínico & Diagnósticos Ltda was shut down on Friday, the 23rd. The company issued a note regretting the incident and expressing solidarity with the patients and their families, while stating that it was aware of the need to clarify the facts and understand the circumstances involved.

The Amigas da Bola team expressed its sorrow, writing: 'Today, words fail us and the longing is already intense. The moments we shared, your smile, and the joy of having you as part of our history remain. Every memory will be cherished by all of us.'
The clinic was shut down after the city hall was notified of the incidents.
