Apple released iOS 27.2 this Tuesday, October 27th, incorporating official support for the new Siri in the Portuguese language. This update allows Brazilian users to interact with the Siri AI, which is presented as a more sophisticated version integrated with Apple Intelligence features, although this is still in beta phase.
Although several Apple Artificial Intelligence features were already available in Portuguese since the launch of iOS 27, such as image editing tools and other functionalities in system apps, the Siri AI was the main absence. Previously, in Brazil, it was necessary to change the device's and Siri's language to English in the settings to use it.
With the system update, native access to Siri AI has been extended not only to Portuguese but also to users whose devices were set to Spanish, French, Japanese, and Korean. The traditional Siri focused on specific commands, such as setting timers, making calls, sending messages, opening applications, or answering simple questions.
In contrast, Siri AI uses the new Apple Intelligence models combined with external models, such as Gemini, aiming to provide more fluid and natural conversations. Visually, Siri abandoned the old full-screen colored effect, returning to the bubble format, which now appears at the top of the screen, emerging from the Dynamic Island (or the notch on models that retain that design) and can be enlarged to show more details.
One of the crucial advancements of the new Siri is its ability to understand the user's specific context. The assistant now has the ability to search for data in emails, messages, photos, and other applications to formulate responses. Additionally, it is now possible to configure which applications should not be accessible by Siri, Search, or system suggestions, a procedure carried out in the 'Excluded Apps' section within the assistant's settings.
The introduction of Siri AI in Portuguese is part of a series of changes brought by the update, which also includes a new icon for Apple Music and support for Apple Pencil (USB-C) on the iPhone Duo. Other announced novelties include several other functionalities.
