Store in Santarém signs TAC with MPT after employees wore shirts referencing a candidate

A store located in the Center of Santarém, in western Pará, formalized a Terms of Conduct Adjustment (TAC) with the Labor Public Ministry (MPT) this Saturday, the 24th. This agreement aims to prohibit any form of electoral propaganda in the workplace, which includes the use of shirts and other items with political connotations instead of corporate uniforms.

The signing of the term occurred on the eve of the second round of the 2026 Elections, coinciding with the day the MPT received the complaint. The agency's investigation was initiated after receiving images sent via a messaging application, showing four female employees inside the establishment during working hours, wearing standardized shirts with the number of a party associated with a candidacy in the current election.

According to the terms agreed upon in the TAC, the commercial establishment assumed several commitments. Firstly, it committed to immediately collecting the used shirts and removing all campaign material from the physical space of the store and its social networks.

Additionally, the store must refrain from interfering in the political stance of its staff, requesting photos of the voting moment at the electronic ballot box, or forcing employees to participate in campaign events. It is also forbidden to make threats or promise financial benefits or advantages in exchange for employees' votes.

Other obligations include ensuring sufficient time for employees scheduled on election day to exercise their right to vote without suffering any type of salary deduction or loss. Finally, the store must post a notice in a visible location reinforcing voter autonomy and create an internal channel dedicated to receiving complaints.

Failure to comply with the clauses stipulated in the commitment will result in a fine of R$ 2 thousand for each violated item, applied for each affected worker. In addition to these obligations to do and not do, the amount designated for collective moral damage compensation will be debated and determined in a hearing scheduled for Monday, the 26th, at the headquarters of the Labor Prosecutor's Office in the municipality of Santarém.
