CM DK Shivakumar warns IT companies: Neglecting Kannada people will not be tolerated

The government's attention has now been drawn due to complaints from local youth in Karnataka about not getting employment. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has taken a strong stance on allegations that Bengaluru's IT companies are ignoring Kannada people in recruitment, warning that action will be taken against any company that deliberately avoids hiring local residents.

DK Shivakumar expressed his views on this issue on the social media platform X on Sunday. He clarified that the government has taken the complaints regarding local Kannada-speaking people not getting jobs in Bengaluru's IT companies very seriously. He emphasized that the neglect of the dignity, rights, and employment opportunities of the local people in Karnataka will not be tolerated.

Calling the state the technology capital of the country, the Chief Minister said that the state is proud of the talent, skills, and efficiency of its citizens. If any case arises where a private company deliberately sidelines Kannada people in its recruitment process, appropriate steps will be taken.

This issue became a topic of discussion after several videos circulated on social media. In these videos, some individuals alleged that local Kannada youth are not being provided adequate employment opportunities in Bengaluru's companies. In a recently surfaced video, a woman claimed that some companies are refusing to hire candidates whose resumes mention the Kannada language.

This woman also alleged that during campus interviews held in other states, companies select very few Kannada candidates, causing difficulty for local youth in getting jobs. This woman had requested DK Shivakumar to intervene in this matter through the video.

The government has taken all these complaints and viral videos very seriously. It was clarified through a post on the social media platform X that local residents of Karnataka have top priority. The government will not overlook the rights and dignity of the youth here under any circumstances. However, if any private institution is found to be conspiring to sideline local youth, strict action will be taken against it as per rules.

Reliance responds to Elon Musk's statements on satellite internet competition in India

In response to the remarks made by American businessman Elon Musk regarding the licensing process for Starlink in India, Reliance Industries has stated its position. Reliance welcomes competition in the Indian satellite internet sector, including the participation of Starlink. The company emphasized that all entities operating in this field must comply with Indian laws and existing regulations.

Reliance's statement followed comments from Elon Musk, in which he claimed that certain business interests in India were hindering the launch of Starlink services. Musk also raised issues concerning competition between Ambani and the Indian telecommunications industry. In a statement published on the social network X, Reliance said: 'We have never been afraid of competition. We consider it the main criterion for which company provides the best service to customers.'

Reliance cited its telecommunications business, 'Jio Platforms,' as an example, noting that the company entered the Indian telecom market in 2016 with zero customer base at that time. According to Reliance data, the number of Jio customers exceeded 530 million over ten years. The company asserts that Jio has contributed to providing Indian citizens with higher quality digital services and access to the world's cheapest mobile internet.

Reliance stated its readiness to welcome all companies operating in the satellite communication sector, including Starlink. However, it also insisted that all companies, including Jio, must act in the interest of the people of India and adhere to national laws and policies. The company added that investments and new experiments in India are welcomed from both domestic and foreign companies, but this must occur within the legal framework.

According to the company, the Indian government has confirmed that a uniform procedure is applied to every company applying for satellite communication services. Reliance reported that its own satellite service, Jio, is also awaiting the necessary permits. This statement came amid Starlink's preparations to commence commercial operations in India, which is expected to intensify competition among existing players in the satellite internet sector.

The government also stated that monopolies in the satellite communications sector are not permitted.
