An incident occurred on the sports field that caused surprise. The Bangladesh U-19 team accused the captain and spinner of the Afghanistan U-19 team, Sohail Khan, of bowling more overs than allowed in the ODI format match.
According to the Bangladesh team's claim, during the third match of the series, Sohail Khan bowled an extra over after exhausting his limit of 10 overs. This match took place on October 21 at the Al Amarat Cricket Ground in Oman.
The official counter recorded this extra over for Shah Faisal Rahimi, but the Bangladesh team insists that Rahimi did not actually bowl this over. The Bangladesh team filed a complaint with the match referee and provided video evidence regarding this matter. It should be noted that in the ODI format, one bowler can bowl a maximum of 10 overs.
Bangladesh coach Hannan Sarkar told Cricinfo that he mentioned this incident in the captain's report. Hannan Sarkar explained that there was no specific section in the standard report form for such occurrences, so an additional note was added after the list of decisions.
According to Hannan Sarkar, the team did not have access to the official counter records. Therefore, players and staff cross-checked the bowlers' over statistics by viewing the Cricinfo scorecard on the team manager's phone. Sarkar clarified that according to the team's analyst data, Sohail Khan had already completed his 10 overs. When Bangladesh discovered the extra over, the bowler had already started the next over. After the over ended, the team notified the umpires of their disagreement.
Hannan Sarkar also stated that before the disputed over, another bowler handed his cap to the umpire. According to him, the scoreboard recorded the over under the name of this other bowler, although Sohail Khan actually bowled it.
