Sucuri spotted eating pintado carcass in Pantanal River of Mato Grosso do Sul state

A yellow sucuri was spotted in action, eating the carcass of a pintado fish in the Tacuari River, in the Caranal area, in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul state. These shots were taken this Saturday (24) by pilot Otavio Amaral on a boat in a spot where tourists usually stop for lunch while fishing.

This snake has become a frequent visitor to this location. According to businesswoman Rubiane Pazeto, 32, who manages 'Flutuante Vitória Abençoada', the animal has been appearing for over a week near the coconut grove along the riverbank.

Rubiane reports that the sucuri usually feeds on leftover fish scraps left in the water during meal preparation. This time, it was photographed with a pintado carcass.

The team observed the scene for several minutes but left before the snake finished its meal. Although this scene impresses Pantanal visitors, it is commonplace for local residents. Rubiane notes that she has seen even larger sucuris and even several at once.

She shares that 'it is always very beautiful to watch. Tourists are amazed when they appear.'
